Hello lovely, today we’re talking about how to practice love.
We hear it all the time—“just love yourself.”
But it’s hard to practice something you don’t know how to do.
If you didn’t experience a lot of love growing up, you didn’t get to practice feeling it. So when you try now, it can feel foreign or uncomfortable.
That’s not a problem with you.
It just means you need the basics.
Just like piano—you wouldn’t sit down and play a full song without learning the basics first. Love works the same way.
When you don’t love yourself, it shows up as being critical, repeating things you don’t want to do, reacting to what people say, or telling yourself you should be further along.
Then you add pressure—“I should love myself more”—and it feels overwhelming.
That’s why we start simple.
First, clear up what self-love is not.
It’s not selfish.
It doesn’t make you arrogant.
It doesn’t make you neglect your responsibilities.
What actually happens is the opposite.
You stop criticizing yourself.
You’re honest with yourself.
You live in integrity.
You know when to push and when to rest.
You feel less stress and anxiety.
And this rolls into every other relationship.
You’re less reactive, less focused on what others think, and more solid in who you are.
That’s real self-love.
And it comes from practice.
