Rev. Byakuren Judith Ragir speaks to us about her upcoming book Untangling Karma.

Judith studied with Dainin Katagiri Roshi from 1973-1990 at the Minnesota Zen Meditation Center in Minneapolis. Following his death in 1990, Judith was instrumental in founding the Clouds in Water Zen Center in St. Paul, MN where she was a senior teacher for nine years. She was the Guiding teacher at Clouds in Water Zen Center from 2006-2015.

Our guest speaker is Tim Burkett, Senior Teacher at Minnesota Zen Meditation Center. He will talk on Nargarjuna's teachings.

Tim began Zen practice in early 1964 with Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. He attended the maiden practice period at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in 1967. Tim succeeded Karen Sunna as Guiding Teacher at Minnesota Zen Meditation Center in 2002, a position he continued in through 2019.

He has had two books published: "Nothing Holy About it: the Zen of Being Who You Are" and "Zen in the Age of Anxiety". His third book "Enlightenment is an Accident: Ancient Wisdom and Practices to Make you Accident Prone" will be published next spring.

Gene Heater talks on "the Meaning and Practice of Zen". 

Gene began his Zen practice at the Boulder Zen Center in the Rinzai Tradition with Gento Richard Barsky.  In response to the Koan, "How does the Buddha manifest the ringing of the bell and the singing of the bird?" he founded the Bird and Bell Meditation Group at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne.  Gene received Lay Ordination from Jodo Cliff Clusin at Bird and Bell on February 10, 2018.  He is a member of Bird and Bell, Prairie Mountain Zen Center and Red Cedar Zen Center.

Paula is a long-term student and practitioner of massage, yoga, Ayurvedic medicine, the Diamond Approach and for the last few years, Soto Zen with Prairie Mountain Zen in Longmont, Colorado. She does contemplative elder care along with wellness coaching and massage. She loves inquiring into the moment and following the threads of truth that reveal themselves and learning, sharing and growing with friends and her sangha.
