The early church begins stretching, if not breaking, its ties to Jerusalem by appointing seven "deacons."  Stephen is "just a deacon," but his courage and faithfulness will change the meaning of a word forever as well as the course of the church forever.

The church must look to the God who gives courage, the God who is in control, and the God was is crucified and crowned.
