Prairie Rainbow Review

This year, the midterms seem to have brought out the WORST in political ads. We hate them! We hate them so much that we decided to research them and talk about them. If you wonder why Tommy becomes Tammy in a burst of flames, or why a mom worries about transgender surgery at school, you have come to the right place. Thankfully, this all ends on November 3rd! And we can get back to pharmaceutical ads.

One of the hot topics right now is whether marriage equality can stick around, given the cultural storms around us. Lee and Brett dive into the history, what to consider, and how being able to marry has changed the LGBTQIA+ community. We've been together for 21 years, and made it legal 12 years ago. So consider this one our anniversary episode!

Lee is an Ingalls, as in a member of the Ingalls family that the LITTLE HOUSE books and series are based on. So it only makes sense to get an opinion of the new Netflix series LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE from him. Oh, and Brett is along for the ride, because he has a take on everything. We go all LITTLE HOUSE for this one.

Brett and Lee have been watching dragons and vampires ALL SUMMER long! We go into HOUSE OF THE DRAGON and THE VAMPIRE LESTAT, and talk about what we thought of these two shows. Both of them are in season 3, and both have really changed a good bit over this run of episodes.

SPOILER WARNING: we do discuss the entire seasons of both shows!

Lee talks to his brother, Brad, about points that they think they may disagree on. First up is the term woke. Do Lee and Brad differ in their take on that word? And brother Brad weighs in on Netflix's LITTLE HOUSE as well.

Do you trust the media? Lee waxes philosophical about the news media, and how it has changed. Infotainment, internet, politics, and opinions all collide. We may well be in the misinformation age. Brett and Lee try to get to the bottom of it.

To mark America's 250th year, Netflix released a limited series about the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutional Congress called THE AMERCIAN EXPERIMENT. Lee and Brett watched it, and decided to use it as a jumping off point to talk about America in general. 250 years, and where are we?

In this episode, Lee discusses what it is like to be a descendant of Laura Ingalls Wilder, and we talk about how the Netflix reboot of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE marks another milestone in the Ingalls saga. Happy July! From an American family in the lineage of a famous American author. In the end, the Ingalls were just everyday folks looking for a home.

Gary Wood and Lee have been friends for over 40 years! In this interview, Lee talks to Gary about their history, and Gary goes in-depth about his career and how he got where he is.

Sometimes Brett's taste in shows runs a little dark, and for lack of a better word, bleak.  Lately, he's made Lee watch HALF MAN on HBO as well as LORD OF THE FLIES on Netflix. The cherry on top was likely a 30th anniversary screening of David Cronenberg's CRASH. In this episode, we debate the virtues and vileness of all three projects.
