So apparently, Heinz and Smoothie King teamed up to create... a ketchup smoothie. Yep. A ketchup smoothie. Because when I think “refreshing post-workout beverage,” I definitely think tomato condiment.

Sherri and I were just trying to figure out who exactly asked for this. Was there a rogue ketchup enthusiast out there blending bottles of Heinz with ice and thinking, “You know what this needs? Corporate backing.”? Look, we love Heinz. We love Smoothie King. But maybe... not together. Like socks and sandals. 

So, Sherri and I are here to talk about the church nursery—you know, that mysterious back room where small humans go in with goldfish crackers and come out with glitter in their hair and someone else’s socks. Anyway, we got on the topic of the little number system they use to alert parents mid-service. You’ve seen it: you're deep in worship, and suddenly—bing!—your kid’s number lights up on the screen like they just won something at Chuck E. Cheese.

Naturally, I had a thought (as one does): what if we made this… competitive? Like, put some stakes on it. Who’s gonna get called out first? Who's melting down by the second song? Imagine people nudging each other in the pews—“I got five on 47. That kid looked shifty at drop-off.”

Of course, Sherri—because she’s Sherri—takes it even further. She’s imagining full-on nursery odds and halftime commentary. “Ooh, #32’s overdue for a blowout, folks. This could be the week!”

Look, I'm not saying we should turn church into a Vegas sportsbook... but I’m also not not saying that.

I know... It’s a bold statement—but one I believe we desperately need to hear. Distraction isn’t just a productivity problem—it’s a spiritual one. We live in a world that thrives on noise, hurry, and endless scrolling. But all that surface-level busyness? It’s not just exhausting. It’s dangerous. It keeps us from what matters most: intimacy with God, real joy, deep relationships, and the quiet clarity of the Spirit’s voice.

Hey friends! I recently had the chance to sit down with Amber, the heart behind the Whatcom County Autism Walk. This amazing community event is coming up on August 2nd from 3–5 PM at Nooksack Valley High School, and it’s all about bringing people together to support and celebrate individuals with autism and special needs.

Donations are accepted but the walk is totally FREE and open to everyone—come as you are! There’ll be music, food, fun activities for the whole family (yes, even princesses and superheroes!), and a chance to connect with others, share stories, and access some great local resources. Plus, the first 100 kids will get a free fidget bag!

What began as a simple idea quickly grew into a vibrant collective of about ten members spanning cities like Surrey, Kelowna, Langley, Maple Ridge, and Comox.
