Have you ever noticed that the things you're best at can sometimes get you into the most trouble?

I was reminded of that through an old story about a deer who was proud of his impressive antlers but embarrassed by his skinny legs, only to discover that the legs saved him while the antlers became his downfall. Sometimes the very things we're most proud of can trip us up, while the weaknesses we'd rather hide are exactly where God does some of His best work in our lives.

As I was walking and praying recently, I couldn't stop thinking about the people carrying the heartbreak of strained family relationships because they're standing firm in what they know to be true. Faith in Jesus is one of those phrases we hear often, but what does it actually look like in everyday life? I've been thinking about how real faith goes beyond simply believing in Jesus. It means trusting Him enough to let Him change us, following His way of living, and humbly admitting that He knows better than we do.

One thing that really stuck with me recently is that most people who don't go to church aren't angry at Christians, they're simply not interested. It's a lot like tennis. If you're not a tennis person, you probably don't spend much time thinking about tennis.

In the same way, faith often feels irrelevant until someone meets a genuine follower of Jesus they can trust. That's why living out our faith with love, consistency, and authenticity may speak louder than any program or event ever could.

Sometimes the most meaningful conversations start with a simple question. When I noticed my friend Andy O'Shea's windowsill covered in heart-shaped rocks, I had to know the story behind them. What he shared was a beautiful reminder that what we look for in life often shapes what we find, and that God's fingerprints of love can show up in the most unexpected places.

I love hearing stories of how God brings people together, and that's exactly what happened with Homecoming. What started as a group of friends serving in ministry became a worship band creating music that's touching lives across Canada and beyond.

I had so much fun catching up with Abi about their journey, their music, and what you can expect when they take the stage.

We're pleased to announce our Bless Your Pastor Winner for 2026: Pastor Doug!

Janice nominated Pastor Doug and here is what she said:

For 29 years, Pastor Doug Wiebe has faithfully preached the gospel at our church. Through changing seasons and the transitions that many churches experience, he has never wavered in pointing us to Jesus and the truth of God’s Word. I appreciate the steady, faithful presence he has been for our church family. Week after week, for nearly three decades, he has prepared and preached messages that have encouraged us, challenged us, and helped us grow in our faith.

That kind of commitment is a gift, and it’s easy to take for granted just how much it means until you stop and think about all the lives he has touched. I would love to bless Pastor Doug with this getaway as a small way of saying thank you. After so many years of giving his time, care, and energy to our church, it would be wonderful to see him receive a chance to rest and be refreshed.

Pastor Doug will enjoy a 2-night getaway at Capernwray Harbour on beautiful Thetis Island to be refreshed. Thank you to Capernwray Harbour Bible Centre for helping us honor pastor Doug and other pastors in our community. We're blessed to be surrounded by pastors who continue to serve and love others with the heart of Jesus.
