However, studies from Rutgers, San Diego State University, and Clemson University have all debunked this rule, finding that bacteria can contaminate the food as soon as it touches the ground. Brant and Sherri suggest that researchers should keep studying the rule until they get the desired result, which is in favor of the rule.
