Dr. David Klonsky is professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. He is also a black belt in shotokan karate and a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Dr. Klonsky is occasionally featured on MMA media--contributing his expertise on behavior and emotion within the world of combat sports.
Dr. Klonsky and I discuss: shotokan karate for MMA; starting jiu-jitsu and its challenges; visualization and self-talk; habituation, exposure therapy, and counter conditioning; fight or flight and flow states; addictions and meaning; and, of course, a lot more.
