The Reformation still matters because the church must remain under God's Word and sinners still need the gospel of Jesus Christ. Dave Jenkins concludes Theology in a Confused World by examining biblical authority, justification by faith alone, and the Five Solas. He explains how Christians can recognize competing authorities, test their traditions and assumptions by Scripture, rest in Christ's finished work, and pursue humble obedience in the local church. Christians should learn from the church's history while remaining governed by God's Word. Dave Jenkins explains the final authority of Scripture, the meaning of sola Scriptura, and the proper use of creeds and confessions. Drawing from 2 Timothy 3:16–17, Acts 17:11, and Jude 3, this episode shows how church history can expose blind spots, help believers recognize recurring errors, and deepen gratitude for Christ's faithfulness. Learn from faithful Christians of the past, test every teaching by Scripture, and keep your confidence in Jesus Christ.

Church history helps Christians recognize recurring errors, appreciate sound doctrine, and learn from faithful believers who have gone before them. In this episode of Contending for the Word Q&A, Dave Jenkins explains how historical awareness strengthens biblical discernment and cultivates humility and gratitude. Drawing on Ecclesiastes 1:9 and Hebrews 13:7, he emphasizes that every historical lesson must remain subject to the supreme authority of God's Word.
