With so many of our kids going back to school, moving out, and/or heading off to college, I felt like it was the perfect time on Prayers From a Mom to pray for their safety and our sanity.
I took our favorite protection prayer, Psalm 91, and wrote it out for you to personalize for your kids or grandkids.
Psalms 91 The protection prayer is attached HERE, you can print it out and personalize the who or where you are praying for.
ACTION STEPS:
Fill in your kids' names into the blanks of Psalm 91 written below and print this prayer out and keep it with you to pray when you get worried.
If this transition with your kids is leaving you alone more often, find something that makes you happy (and that's good for you) to do for yourself with some of the free time you have.
Find little ways to show your kids you love them even though you aren't with them as much. Consider their Love Language when showing them love.
FOCUSED PRAYER:
Father, I cover my kids in your promise from Psalm 91 that says... When my kids abide under the shadow of Shaddai, ____________ is hidden in the strength of God Most High. You are the hope that holds ___________ and the stronghold to shelter him/her, the only God for ____________, and his/her great confidence. You will rescue __________ from every hidden trap of the enemy, and you will protect ___________ from false accusations and any deadly curse. Your massive arms are wrapped around him/her in protection. __________ can run under your covering of majesty and hide. Your arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping ___________ from harm. ____________ will never worry about an attack of demonic forces at night nor have to fear a spirit of darkness coming against him/her. He/She will not fear a thing! Whether by night or by day, demonic danger will not trouble ___________, nor will the powers of evil be launched against him/her. Even in times of disaster, with thousands and thousands being killed, ______________ will remain unscathed and unharmed. ____________ will be a spectator as the wicked perish in judgment, for they will be paid back for what they have done! When we live our lives within the shadow of God Most High, our secret hiding place, we will always be shielded from harm. How then could evil prevail against _______________ or disease infect him/her. God sends angels with special orders to protect _____________ wherever he/she goes, defending _____________ from all harm. If ____________ walks into a trap, angels be there for him/her and keep him/her from stumbling. __________ will even walk unharmed among the fiercest powers of darkness, trampling every one of them beneath his/her feet! For here is what you have spoken to me: "Because you loved me, delighted in me, and have been loyal to my name, I will greatly protect you. I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will feel my presence in your time of trouble. I will deliver you and bring you honor. I will satisfy you with a full life and with all that I do for you. For you will enjoy the fullness of my salvation!"
In Jesus' Name, Amen!

Riley Vazquez joins Scarlett in this episode, as mother and daughter talk about life growing up in a Blended Family. They talk about attitudes and things they got right, as well as things that could have been better.
This week is filled with so much wisdom for us as moms, as we talk and pray about our kids' attitudes.
ACTION STEPS:
Pay attention to things that trigger your kid's attitude. Ask God to reveal the why behind the trigger.
Have conversations with your kids when things aren't heated about the topics that seem to frustrate them.
Remember to ask more questions than giving advice. Slow to speak and quick to listen.
Pay attention to what triggers you. Is there something you could do differently to stop the fight from happening or calm it down when it becomes an argument? How do your kids prefer to handle conflict, head-on or need space?
Find a way to respect that but also address the issue.
Remember sometimes when we pray for things, situations surface and it may seem like a bad thing, but it's actually an opportunity to do things differently.
Be expectant for the good that is coming.
FOCUSED PRAYER:
Father, You know my kids better than anyone else. Your word says my kids should honor their father and mother but so often I don't feel honored. I feel hurt and disrespected because of their attitude. Give me insight into why my kid gets so frustrated with me. Lord, if it's something I am doing that I can change, give me wisdom and discernment so I can help bring peace and unity into our relationship. If it's not me and they are upset about something else and I am just the safe dumping ground, help me to be slow to speak, and quick to listen. Show me how to teach them healthier ways to express their emotions that leave us both feeling heard and respected.
In Jesus Name, Amen!
SCRIPTURES TO PRAY THIS WEEK:
Ephesians 6: Love in Our Families Children, if you want to be wise, listen to your parents and do what they tell you, and the Lord will help you. For the commandment, "Honor your father and your mother," was the first of the Ten Commandments with a promise attached: "You will prosper and live a long, full life if you honor your parents." Fathers, don't exasperate your children but raise them up with loving discipline and counsel that brings the revelation of our Lord.
James 1:19 My dearest brothers and sisters, take this to heart: Be quick to listen, but slow to speak. And be slow to become angry.
Proverbs is filled with so many scriptures about controlling anger, which is often our response to our kid's attitude. Check these out.
Proverbs 14:29 When your heart overflows with understanding you'll be very slow to get angry. But if you have a quick temper, your impatience will be quickly seen by all.
Proverbs 15:1 Respond gently when you are confronted and you'll defuse the rage of another. Responding with sharp, cutting words[a] will only make it worse. Don't you know that being angry can ruin the testimony of even the wisest of men?
Proverbs 16:32 Do you want to be a mighty warrior? It's better to be known as one who is patient and slow to anger. Do you want to conquer a city? Rule over your temper before you attempt to rule a city.
Proverbs 19:11 An understanding person demonstrates patience, for mercy means holding your tongue. When you are insulted, be quick to forgive and forget it, for you are virtuous when you overlook an offense.
Proverbs 29:11 You can recognize fools by the way they give full vent to their rage and let their words fly! But the wise bite their tongues and hold back all they could say.

For the commandment, “Honor your father and your mother,” was the first of the Ten Commandments with a promise attached: “You will prosper and live a long, full life if you honor your parents.” Fathers, don’t exasperate your children but raise them up with loving discipline and counsel that brings the revelation of our Lord.
James 1:19 My dearest brothers and sisters, take this to heart: Be quick to listen, but slow to speak. And be slow to become angry.
Proverbs is filled with so many scriptures about controlling anger, which is often our response to our kid's attitude. Check these out.
Proverbs 14:29 When your heart overflows with understanding you’ll be very slow to get angry. But if you have a quick temper, your impatience will be quickly seen by all.
Proverbs 15:1 Respond gently when you are confronted and you’ll defuse the rage of another. Responding with sharp, cutting words[a] will only make it worse. Don’t you know that being angry can ruin the testimony of even the wisest of men?
Proverbs 16:32 Do you want to be a mighty warrior? It’s better to be known as one who is patient and slow to anger.
