Praying the Lauds - Your Daily Christian Morning Prayer

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - June 30, 2025 | Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Today, considers Jesus' invitation to embrace poverty, detachment, simplicity, and ultimate life sacrifice. The meaning of following Christ is contemplated, acknowledging that selfish motives are incompatible with discipleship. A "yes" to Jesus is understood as a "yes" to His cross. Jesus' life is examined to determine willingness to follow Him into this poverty. A conscious choice to follow Christ, fully understanding the commitment, leads to participation in His resurrected life.

Examine your heart honestly and humbly, seeking guidance from Jesus on how to embody His teachings. We all fall short of perfection; some may struggle with severe judgmentalism, while others face less pronounced tendencies. Yet, everyone can cultivate greater compassion, mercy, forgiveness, and understanding towards others. Embrace this truth, and allow our Lord to alleviate the burden of judgment from your life.
