LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 7, 2023 | Fifth Sunday of Easter (Year A)
"Jesus said to his disciples: 'Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still, and trust in me.'" - John 14:1
Jesus is our way to the Father and to eternal life but we must put our trust and faith in Him if we are to succeed along this way. This would mean turning over all our concerns to God and placing our hope in His love and providence, while opening ourselves to be led even through uncomfortable paths and challenging roads. God is trustworthy and He has our best interest at heart.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 6, 2023 | Saturday of the Fourth Week of Easter
"Whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father." - John 14:12
Jesus is the face of God's mercy and His life, works and teachings testify to His communion with the Father. As He invited disciples to follow Him, He too challenges us to grow in our knowledge and love of Him with the graces that are disposed to us through the Church. Our faith in the Holy Triune God, then, will move us to love and care for the needs of our neighbor as members of the Mystical Body of Christ.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 5, 2023 | Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter
"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6
Do you know where you are going to?
We are meant to go to the Father's house where dwelling places are prepared for us. Jesus is the way to the Father. Following Him means surrendering our will to Him and letting Him take us to places, people and situations where we can grow in faith, hope and love. Aware of our limitations and weaknesses, God strengthens us with the gift of the Holy Spirit, and nourishes us through the Eucharist where He makes Himself present to us in His body and blood.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 4, 2023 | Thursday of the Fourth Week of Easter
"Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me." - John 13:20
God continues to call men and women to be messengers and witnesses of the Good News. As members of God's family, we are called to be open to receive God's message through the people He sends into our lives. Likewise, we too are challenged to be faithful witnesses of Jesus and to share His message with others. May the Risen Lord strengthen our feeble hearts that we may boldly proclaim His name in season and out of season.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 3, 2023 | Feast of Sts. Philip and James, Apostles
"Philip said to him, 'Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.'" - John 14:8
Today is the Feast of the Apostles Philip and James. Like Sts. Peter and Andrew, St. Philip was from Bethsaida, in Galilee. According to tradition, he was crucified at Hierapolis in Phyrgia, where he had preached the Gospel. He introduced St. Bartholomew (Nathaniel) to Christ. Christ declared to St. Philip, "Whoever has seen me has seen the Father...I am the Father and the Father is in me" (Jn 14:8, 11).
St. James was a cousin of Our Lord. He is often called St. James the Less because of St. Mark's reference to him as "the younger" (Mk 15:40). As bishop of Jerusalem, St. James wrote an Epistle of the New Testament. He was thrown from the terrace of the Temple and then stoned to death.
Like Sts. Philip and James, let us place our confidence in God amidst the trials and challenges that we may encounter.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 2, 2023 | Memorial of St. Athanasius, Bishop and Doctor of the Church
Today the Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Athanasius (295-373), Bishop of Alexandria and a great defender of the orthodox faith, throughout his life opposed the Arian heresy. By denying the Godhead of the Word the Arians turned Christ into a mere man, only higher in grace than others in the eyes of God. St. Athanasius took part in the Council of Nicea in 325 and until the end remained a champion of the faith as it was defined by the Council. In him the Church venerates one of her great Doctors. He was subjected to persecutions for upholding the true teaching concerning the person of Christ and was sent into exile from his see no less than five times. He died at Alexandria in 373 after an episcopate of forty-six years.
St. Athanasius, pray for us!

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - May 1, 2023 | Memorial of St. Joseph the Worker
The Optional Memorial of St. Joseph the Worker was established by Pope Pius XII in 1955 in order to Christianize the concept of labor and give to all workmen a model and a protector. By the daily labor in his shop, offered to God with patience and joy, St. Joseph provided for the necessities of his holy spouse and of the Incarnate Son of God, and thus became an example to all laborers. "Workmen and all those laboring in conditions of poverty will have reasons to rejoice rather than grieve, since they have in common with the Holy Family daily preoccupations and cares" (Leo XIII).
St. Joseph, patron of workers, pray for us!

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - April 30, 2023 | Fourth Sunday of Easter - Good Shepherd Sunday
World Day of Prayer for Vocations
"I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep, and mine know me." - John 10:14
How comforting it is to have Jesus as our Good Shepherd who knows each one of us by name, leads us to good pastures and protects us from the marauding wolf. He continues to shepherd us through the Church and bestows on us His life through the Sacraments, His word in the teaching that she gives us, all to lead us to our heavenly home with Him.
The Fourth Sunday of Easter marks the 60th Anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations instituted by Pope Paul VI in 1964. Let us especially pray for more holy vocations to the priesthood and religious life and the sanctification and fidelity of those who have consecrated their lives to the Lord.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - April 29, 2023 | Memorial of St. Catherine of Siena, Virgin and Doctor of the Church
"The Lord is the king of virgins: come, let us adore him." - Morning antiphon
Today is the Memorial of St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380). She was born Catherine Benincasa in Siena at a date that remains uncertain, and was favored with visions from the age of seven. Seeking perfection, she entered the Third Order of the Dominicans when she was still in her teens.
In 1370 she was commanded by a vision to leave her secluded life and enter the public life of the world. She wrote letters to many major public figures and carried on a long correspondence with Pope Gregory XI, urging him to reform the clergy and the administration of the Papal States. She burned with the love of God and her neighbor. As an ambassador she brought peace and harmony between cities. She fought hard to defend the liberty and rights of the Popes and did much for the renewal of religious life. She also dictated books full of sound doctrine and spiritual inspiration. She died on 29 April 1380. In 1970 Pope Paul VI declared her a Doctor of the Church.
St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us and for peace throughout the world!

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - April 28, 2023 | Friday of the Third Week of Easter
"Go out to all the world and tell the Good News." - Ps. 117
How have you encountered the Risen Lord in your life?
God's unbounded generosity to us His beloved children is present throughout our lives. Even the faith that allows us to respond to His love is also a gratuitous gift from Him. How right and just it is that we acknowledge and thank Him for all the graces we receive each day so that our faith may also grow and our friendship with the Risen Lord may deepen. This then is the Good News that we can share to the world in dire need of God's presence. May we be His instruments of hope to all we meet each day.
