Praying through the Psalms is a well known spiritual discipline. In practice, some of the psalms seem to be for a time and place that is foreign to us. For example, Psalm 74 is a community lament in the aftermath of the complete destruction of the Temple. How does the 21st century Christian apply such a lament to his or her personal prayer life?
