You can be taught the truth and yet not be certain of it. And you can be a Christian and still have doubts from time to time. These are two important realities concerning our walk with Jesus. What I want to do this morning is first go through our text and explain the verses best as I can and from there, extract some principles for handling such estrangement so we are equipped when it should occur in our own congregation. These principles will apply of course to other applications such as the family, the work place, etc. However, these principles are predicated on true faith and therefore will break down in this regard when applied to those who do not share a true believing commitment to our Lord and Savior.

Have you ever experienced wavering in your faith and determination to follow closely after Christ? In our text Paul calls us to “stand firm in the Lord.” In this message, Pastor Rick Anderson, by way of explanation and contrast with verses 17, 18, and 19, shows us several powerful truths and promises which empower us to “stand firm in the Lord.” These truths and promises will help you stay true and determined to follow Christ.
