October 07, 2024 [PREACH] The lame man in John 5
Preached at the ‘ALL engAGE’ morning service, Emmanuel in Saltburn on 22nd September 2024.
In this episode
This is an all-age service which meets in the church hall (called ECHO). This service would have been better watched but there was no video recorded, so you will hear everything going on and you will have to imagine the activity as best you can!
It starts with a game which is described, but the key aspect of the game that causes everyone to laugh is that my seat is right next to the bucket while theirs is a couple of metres away. The purpose is to demonstrate something of how the lame man might have felt each time someone else got to the pool first. The story is then described and discussed animatedly.

This chapter’s theme continues from the previous chapter, on what Paul calls the stronger and weaker in faith. All of this builds up to his main focus - the Gentiles - and how they are part of God’s plan of salvation through the Messiah, Jesus. The principles in this chapter are a challenge to us today regarding our attitude and behaviour towards others.

July 03, 2024 [PREACH] WE ARE ONE
Given at The Worship Centre, Lingdale on 30th June 2024. This was the first ‘Yorkshire Coastal Network’ and first ‘5th weekend’ collaboration event.
In this episode
Speaking on unity and being one, starting from Ephesians 4:4-6. Unity and oneness is not the same thing, but unity should lead to oneness. Lots of examples are given to domenstrate the difference and the importance of not stopping at unity but striving for oneness.
The talks end with ‘the ultimate prayer’ to pray for one another and the last 12 minutes is spent praying that prayer.
