Knowing Jesus
Philippians 3.10
“that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,”
Sometime ago I presented a lesson, "Who is Jesus?" And we clearly see from scripture that Jesus is Christ, the Saviour, messiah, King, LORD and God etc.
He is the way and truth to the father — John 14.6
In Him is light and life
He is the head of His Church
He is our advocate and Judge.
So many things to know about this Jesus. But here is a question;
do you really know this Jesus?
Have you been transformed by His life?
Is your attitude demonstrating the LORD in His fullness?
Apostle Paul who once had an encounter with Christ, still longs for a perfect knowledge about this Jesus. We can't say that Paul knowledge about Christ was shallow, he didn't cried out for proper explanation, but he yerns for a deeper understanding of who Jesus is. Thus, Paul said; that he may know Him...
Why was Paul not contented with the knowledge he already had? There you go! Paul understood that having a deeper knowledge of Jesus Christ does the following;
1. Knowing Jesus changes our decision: In Acts 9, we see the swift turnaround on Paul's decision. He aimed at persecuting the body of Christ, that was is decision. Just to satisfy his evil urge believing, he's in the right. Little wonder to him that his decision was about to take a new look. He became an instrument of power for the growth of the kingdom.
What is your decision this morning?
Have you decided not to assemble with the saints in worship this morning, have you made up your mind to cause yourself trouble by engaging in an act not pleasing to God? Your decision too can be transformed by you knowing Jesus just as the apostle Paul did. Have you made up your mind not to talk with your neighbor, siblings and members of the Lord's Church, malice, grumbling etc. Yes it can still be change.
2. Knowing Jesus changes our actions:
3. Knowing Jesus changes our destiny.
Have you come to know this Jesus today?
When we know Jesus, every single decisions, actions and destinies will be transformed to the Praise and Glory of God's name.
