Strength and Betrayal: Lessons from Samson and Delilah
Samson, the prophets were not around samson, the people that can wake you up, warn you, they were not around Samson. The nearest person, the most influential person around Samson was that, Delilah. Who is the most influential person in your life? Who is the closest person to you? Not even your wife, it’s that other Delilah. Your Delilah can be a he or she. Have you been able to identify that Delilah, the one you feel so comfortable to share your strength with, the one that will be sober because you refused to tell him/her the source of your progress. Look around you, check the circle you find yourself, check your contact list, the groups you belong to, and carefully identify who the Delilah is. As a married man, you think abandoning your family at home, not paying attention to their every needs, forsake your Bible at home and you are going everytime to that Delilah. As a young adult, no advice gets into your head the moment you sits with your Delilah of drunkenness, womanizing, prostitution, stealing, backbiting, and the likes. You will soon loose every kind of fire you ever had!
Please, come back! Come back!! Heed His call, accept His grace!!!
Come back to the Bible, come back to where you can find peace and preserve your strength and keep your fire burning. And the fire will start burning again.
So, this woman, Delilahs in the world, they are wicked. They can show love apparently and yet, they will ruin you and wreck you and arrange the people that will scrape off your hair, your strength, and zeal. When Delilah successfully scraped off Samson’s hair, she shouted, “wake up Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” and she knew that Samson’s strength has gone. His hair has been shaven. And samson woke up wanting to demonstrate power. Failing to realized that that strength is no more. Because the fire and spirit has left. May your zeal never grow dim.
Are you the Samson of your family, identify your Delilah.
Are you the Samson of your generation, identify your Delilah.
For Delilah is weakness, backwardness, and failure.
The moment you realized that you have been taken too far by that Delilah you have identify, all you need to do is you regret, that is not enough, remorse, that is not enough, repent and today come back to Him who says; “Behold, I stand at the door knocking, if anyone hears my voice and open, I will come in and dine with him” or are you thinking your sins can never be forgiven? Jesus is still inviting you; “Come unto me all you that are labored and are heavy laden, I will give you rest…”
