"As We Grow Older":
Psalm 71:9-14, Proverbs 20:29
As we grow older, our lives undergo significant changes. Our bodies may not be as strong as they once were, our energy levels may wane, and our roles in life may shift. But despite these changes, our worth and purpose remain unchanged. In fact, as we grow older, we have the opportunity to grow wiser, more compassionate, and more grace-filled.
In Psalm 71, the psalmist writes, "Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone" (v. 9). This prayer acknowledges the natural decline that comes with aging, but also expresses a deep trust in God's continued presence and care.
In Proverbs 20:29, we read, "The glory of the young is their strength, but the gray hair of experience is the splendor of the old." This verse reminds us that age brings its own unique beauty and dignity. Our experiences, our wisdom, and our character are refined and polished over time, making us more radiant and more lovely in God's sight.
What happens when we grow older?
We will start getting weak
What we used to do before, we will not have that time nor strength
Our health will be fading away
Diverse challenges will come with old age
Restrictions as per our diets will surface.
What have you done with your youthful days?
As we grow older, may we embrace the opportunities to:
- Share our wisdom and experience with others
- Pray for and support those around us
- Trust in God's continued guidance and care
- Find joy and contentment in our present season
- Grow in grace and compassion, becoming more like Christ
May God bless us as we grow older, and may we honor Him in every stage of our lives.
