Daniel Fast 2022 - Shalom Christian Fellowship
21 days of fasting and prayer - Starts 31/01 / Ends 20/02 (we start eating normally 21/02)
The challenge for these 21 days is to give up a few meals, maybe two or three times a week (you could choose to skip lunch or dinner for example) and also give up all pleasurable foods, only eat vegetables, fruits and drink water. You should determine how many days you are going to fast in these 21 days, how many meals you will skip, what you are going to eat, etc.
Please write it all down on your fasting plan
what to eat, days and time you’re not eating and write what are your goals for this fasting : personal, spiritual, family , church etc. Writing it down is way of getting ready for this fasting period. (Please write it down until Saturday or Sunday)
This is not an obligation, everyone should pray and decide together with your family members how to fast, because some people cannot go for long time with no food at all - for health reasons, etc., but everyone can do their best for God’s Glory!
Fasting is very healthy, it’s very good for your body (because you are probably going to lose weight) but the main benefit is the spiritual growth that you are going to achieve if you do it right, if you do it for Him!
How to Begin
Start with a clear goal. Be specific. Why are you fasting? Do you need direction, healing, salvation for your family, restoration of your marriage, family issues or financial difficulties? Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Pray for your goals daily and read the Bible.
Preparing Spiritually
Confess your sins to God. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of weakness. Forgive all who have offended you and ask for the forgiveness of those you may have offended (Mark 11:25; Luke 11:4; 17:3-4). Surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ and reject the worldly desires that try to hinder you (Romans 12:1-2). When fasting, remember to take the time to pray and study the Bible every day.
What to Expect
When you fast your body detoxes, eliminating excess from your system. This may cause a mild discomfort such as headaches and irritability, especially if you go through withdrawal from caffeine and sugars.
Our temporary physical discomfort has spiritual rewards. Fasting brings about miraculous results.
You are following Jesus’ example when you fast. Spend time listening to praise and worship. Pray as often as you can throughout the day. Get away from normal distractions as much as possible and keep your heart and mindset on seeking God’s face. You’re fasting food, things that you really like, but you should also limit your time on the internet, on facebook, Twitter, instagram. Also Limit the time spent on TV, Netflix or watching the news. Why? Because you need to use your time wisely, you should have quality time with God every day . You are going to stop Facebook and you are going to FaceBible. During these 21 days of fasting and praying, God is going to open the floodgates of Heaven over our Church, over our town, over your family and your spiritual life! More of Him and less of us!
If any doubt, please text us!
God bless you.
