"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward" 1 Timothy 5:17, 18.

"The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good" Proverbs 15:3. "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him" 2 Chronicles 16:9

"Wine is a mocker, and strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise" Proverbs 20:1.

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it" John 8:44.

"For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee... For a bishop [elder] must be blameless, as a steward of God" Titus 1: 5, 7.

"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you" Deuteronomy 4:2.
