In this message, Isaiah continues his prophecy against Babylon. Yehovah will yet have mercy on Jacob His people, bringing them back to the land. They will then take up a proverb against the king of Babylon. The land is at rest and quiet since he ceased his tumultuous actions. Sheol is pictured as meeting the king of Babylon as he descends to it, stirring up the dead kings of the past to mock him as he arrives. Does this tell us the way things really are in “hell”? Then, Isaiah seems to switch from speaking of the king of Babylon to the power behind the throne, Satan himself, who thought he could ascend by his own power and become like God, but will himself be brought down to Sheol as well.

In this message, our six hundredth in our Precepts Audio series, Isaiah speaks of the day of the LORD, both the day of wrath against Babylon and the great, future Day when the world that rebels against God’s kingdom is punished. The kingdom of Babylon falls to the Medes and is overthrown. Yet the prediction that it will never be inhabited again seems too extreme for what happened in the past, and probably refers to the Babylon of the tribulation period.

In this message, Yehovah reveals in Isaiah 12 what Israel will say when the kingdom comes at last. They will realize that God is their salvation, that He gives them living water, and that they can call on Him. He will do excellent things throughout the earth. They are the nation He has marked out to punish His people of Judah. He warns of they day when they will be mustered against the land: the day of the LORD. In this message, Isaiah continues to gives grand prophecy of the Messiah. He will set all in order, not what is right in His eyes, but with true righteousness and equity. Harmony will reign, not only in the world of mankind, but also among all the animal kingdom, with carnivores now eating plants like herbivores. At that time Yehovah will make a way for all Israel to return to the land, and the nations who were once their enemies will help them do so.

In this message, since Assyria acted arrogantly against Yehovah Who used them as a weapon, and they will be consumed. He promises that a remainder of Israel shall return to their land in the righteous kingdom of God. He comforts Zion not to fear for the coming trouble. He prophesies what it will be like in that day, as report after report comes to Jerusalem of Assyria’s progress as they advance toward the capital, conquering and devastating city after city. At last, he stands on a city wall in sight of the wall of Jerusalem and shakes his fist against it. But Yehovah will destroy him! Then, a promise of a Rod and Branch from the stump and roots of Jesse. The sevenfold Spirit shall rest on Him.

In this message, Yehovah pronounces woe against the governing authorities in Israel who make troublesome laws, twist justice, and deprive the helpless of their rights. What will they do when God oversees their work? They will go into captivity from the Assyrians. The Assyrians and their king are the rod of His anger against His people, yet that is not their thought. They think Israel and their God are like all the other nations. Should a weapon threaten the one who yields it? This is the arrogance of the Assyrians.

In this message, Isaiah prophesies the great light that will arise on Galilee of the nations when the Child is born and the Son given Who will rule over the government and be called the Father of Perpetuity and Prince of Shalom. The northern kingdom, already severely decimated by Assyria, decides they can build up better and stronger than ever and resist their enemy “next time,” not realizing that their hair is grey and their nation about to die.

In this message, Isaiah goes in to the prophetess, and she conceives and bears a son whom Isaiah names Mahershalalhashbaz at Yehovah’s instruction. I reconsider what I said last time about the prophesied son, since it appears that Isaiah’s child is apparently the one the prophecy was talking about in chapter 7. They should not be trusting in a confederacy, as was popular in Judah at the time, but in their God. They sought to the occult, rather than to God’s law and testimony. Trouble was coming on the whole nation for this.

In this message, King Ahaz of Judah is afraid of an alliance between King Rezin of Aram and King Pekah of Israel against him. Isaiah with his son Shearjashub meets him at the upper pool and assure him from Yehovah that their conspiracy will not succeed, and that these two allied kings will fall. He commands Ahaz to ask Him for a sign. Yet Ahaz already has a plan he intends to carry out: to ally with the King of Assyria, so he pretends to piously refuse to ask a sign and test Yehovah. Yehovah, exasperated, tells him He will give him a sign: the virgin will be with child, and before he knows good food from bad, these two lands will have lost their kings. He then warns of the coming of the King of Assyria to Judah, and the destruction he will cause there.

In this message, Isaiah warns that because of what Israel has done, Yehovah will consume them like stubble. He will call for nations to come and destroy them, ensuring they are well-equipped and successful in destroying the land. Then, in Isaiah 6, Isaiah sees a great vision of Yehovah in the year King Uzziah died. He describes His throne, the train of His robes, and the seraphs who fly around His throne, but he does not dare attempt to describe the One on the throne. Isaiah is undone because of his uncleanness, but a seraph comes with a coal off the altar, touches his lips, and tells him his iniquity and sin is taken away and purged. Yehovah wonders who will go for Them, and Isaiah volunteers. Yehovah tells Him that Israel will hear and not understand and see and not perceive until the desolation comes.
