The difference between the wise man and the foolish man? The wise man not only heard the word, he acted upon what he heard... "Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man..." James said it this way, "Faith without works is DEAD."

Why do we preach expository messages based on Biblical texts? Why are we encouraged to read, study, and share God's Word? We will spend three weeks looking at the idea of being "people of the Book". Today we look at being hearers of the Word.

Where do you go... what do you do nce the identified task is completed? The mission Nehemiah set out to do was finished - in just 52 days. So what is next? Where do we go to continue our mission?

Sometimes the worst and/or most painful attack comes from someone who pretends to be your friend. What do we do when problems/persecution arises from within? Let's listen in to hear how Nehemiah responded...

One of the messages of Nehemiah is that when you do God's will God's way you can expect persecution. Nehemiah 4 shows us how we can continue to be successful in the midst of ridicule and intense psychological warfare. Nehemiah shows us how to have both a method and a message.

Nehemiah 3 is a compilation of what various groups did in the rebuilding of the walls and repairing the gates of Jerusalem. Ch. 3 is bracketed by opposition (2:19 & 4:1). Yet, it illustrates what can be accomplished when leaders lead by example, all of the people are mobilized to do their part, and people understand the need for interdependence.

Once we have decided that we care enough to seek the lost and serve others and we have enough faith... do we really understand the problem? Nehemiah rested before he researched, then he exhorted the people to join together and seek a solution. Are you ready?

Once Nehemiah realized the need, he was able to wait for an answer and the right opportunity because he had the faith necessary to wait. He also had the faith necessary to ask. How much faith do you have?
