  • Reformation Sunday, October 25, 2020

    Welcome to Reformation Sunday, the anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 Theses to the door of All Saints' Church in Wittenburg. Today we hear from MJ Nelson on pipes, Brian Cich in a solo, and Cornel Radulescu on organ.

    Welcome & News of the Covenant

    Prelude II - "Amazing Grace" - MJ Nelson, pipes

    Call to Worship, led by Don Beard

    Hymn of Praise - (#118) "A Mighty Fortress is Our God"

    Confession and Assurance, led by Rev. Sharon Yagerlener

    2020-10-25 Sermon - "Caring Leads to Sharing" (Matthew 5:38–48) - by Rev. Jason Griffice

    Offertory - "Honey in the Rock" by Frederick Arthur Graves - Brian Cich, baritone; Cornel Radulescu, organ

    Prayers of the People, led by Amy Hemseri-Sabala

    Benediction

    Recessional - "Because He Lives / When the Saints"

    A Mighty Fortress is Our God

    A mighty fortress is our God,

    A bulwark never failing;

    Our helper He amid the flood

    Of mortal ills prevailing.

    For still our ancient foe

    Doth seek to work us woe -

    His craft and power are great,

    And, armed with cruel hate,

    On earth is not His equal.

    Did we in our own strength confide,

    Our striving would be losing,

    Were not the right man on our side,

    The man of God's own choosing.

    Dost ask who that may be?

    Christ Jesus, it is He -

    Lord Sabaoth His name,

    From age to age the same,

    And He must win the battle.

    And though this world with devils filled,

    Should threaten to undo us,

    We will not fear, for God hath willed

    His truth to triumph through us.

    The prince of darkness grim,

    We tremple not for him -

    His rage we can endure,

    For lo, his doom is sure:

    One little word shall fell him.

    That word above all earthly powers,

    No thanks to them, abideth;

    The Spirit and the gifts are ours

    Through Him who with us sideth.

    Let goods and kindred go,

    This mortal life also -

    The body they may kill;

    God's truth abideth still:

    His kingdom is forever.

    Amen.

    Week six has been much more stable than week five. There were no technical difficulties and only a minor miscommunication near the start of the service. Also, we will have occasional pre-recorded postludes going forward. This one was an improvisation of "To God Be the Glory" performed by Cornel Radulescu. Enjoy!

    Prelude - Jesus Paid It All (arr. Mark Hayes) - Micah Wright, piano

    Welcome & News of the Church

    Moment for Mission - Operation Christmas Child

    Call to Worship

    Hymn of Praise - (#347) "All Creatures of Our God and King"

    Confession and Assurance, led by Amy Hemseri-Sabala

    Praise Song - "What a Beautiful Name"

    2020-10-18 Sermon - "Heart for the Lost" (Luke 15:1–10) - by Rev. Jason Griffice

    Offertory - "Thy Will" by Herms, Scott, and Weisband

    Pastoral Prayer, led by Rev. Sharon Yagerlener

    Benediction

    Postlude

    All Creatures of Our God and King

    All creatures of our God and King,

    Lift up your voice and with us sing,

    Alleluia! Alleluia!

    Thou burning sun with golden beam,

    Thou silver moon with softer gleam,

    O praise Him! O praise Him!

    Alleluia! Alleluia!

    Alleluia!

    Thou rushing wind that art so strong,

    Ye clouds that sail in heaven along,

    O praise Him! Alleluia!

    Thou rising morn in praise rejoice,

    Ye lights of evening, find a voice!

    O praise Him! O praise Him!

    Alleluia! Alleluia!

    Alleluia!

    Thou flowing water, pure and clear,

    Make music for thy lord to hear,

    Alleluia! Alleluia!

    Thou fire so masterful and bright,

    That givest man both warmth and light,

    O praise Him! O praise Him!

    Alleluia! Alleluia!

    Alleluia!

    Let all things their Creator bless,

    And worship Him in humbleness,

    O praise Him! Alleluia!

    Praise, praise the Father, praise the son,

    And praise the Spirit, Three in One!

    O praise Him! O praise Him!

    Alleluia! Alleluia!

    Alleluia!

    Week five of the drive-in service came with more growth in technology and more growing pains. The recording quality has gone up and the keyboard was added to the list of instruments tested and proven, but I forgot to start the recording until just before the Children's Message and the Pastor needed an emergency battery swap mid-sermon.

    Prelude - "He Lifted Me" (arr. Fred Bock) - Micah Wright, piano

    Hymn of Praise - (#363) "To God Be the Glory"

    Children's Message, led by Keri Scroggins

    Confession and Assurance, led by Rev. Sharon Yagerlener

    Praise Song - "Good Good Father"

    Sermon - "Took Her by the Hand" (Matthew 9:18–26) - by Rev. Jason Griffice

    Offertory - "Heart of Worship"

    Prayers of the People, led by Amy Hemseri-Sabala

    Benediction

    Postlude

    To God Be the Glory

    To God be the glory—great things He hath done!

    So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,

    Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,

    And opened the lifegate that all mey go in.

    CHORUS:

    Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

    Let the earth hear His voice!

    Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,

    Let the people rejoice!

    O come to the Father thru Jesus the Son,

    And give Him the glory—great things He hath done.

    O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,

    To every believer the promise of God;

    The vilest offender who truly believes,

    That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

    [CHORUS]

    Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,

    And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;

    But purer, and higher, and greater will be

    Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

    [CHORUS]

  • World Communion Sunday, October 4, 2020

    Welcome to World Communion Sunday! We would normally hold a much larger celebration with much more interaction, but it was decided that it would be wasteful to collect breads baked in the many ways of the world and then be unable to hold the usual small feast afterward. Moreover, the transmission risk posed by redistributing the bread was also one we did not wish to confront. Instead, the congregation brought the flags of their ancestry to celebrate the many points of origin we have on God's whole earth.

    Also, I accidentally uploaded the wrong file last week. Thanks to Marcia, who brought the error to my attention.

    Prelude - Thou Art Worthy (arr. Fred Bock) - piano by Micah Wright

    Welcome & News of the Church

    Call to Worship

    Hymn of Praise - (#546) "We Are God's People"

    Confession of Our Need for Grace

    Assurance of the Grace of God

    2020-10-04 Sermon - "God Weeps" (John 11:20–37) by Rev. Jason Griffice

    Call for the Tithes and Offerings

    Offertory - "Forever Reign"

    Invitation to the Table of Communion

    Hymn of Preparation - "Create in Me a Clean Heart"

    Serving the Sacrament of Communion

    Benediction

    Singing the Lord's Prayer

    Musical Outro

    We Are God's People

    We are God's people, the chosen of the Lord,

    Born of His Spirit, established by His Word;

    Our cornerstone is Christ alone,

    And strong in Him we stand:

    O let us live transparently,

    And walk heart to heart and hand in hand.

    We are God's loved ones, the Bride of Christ our Lord,

    For we have known it, the love of God our poured;

    Now let us learn how to return

    The gift of love once given:

    O let us share each joy and care,

    And live with a zeal that pleases Heaven.

    We are the Body of which the Lord is Head,

    Called to obey Him, now risen from the dead;

    He wills us be a family

    Diverse yet truly one:

    O let us give our gifts to God,

    And so shall His work on earth be done.

    We are a Temple, the Spirit's dwelling place,

    Formed in great weakness, a cup to hold God's grace;

    We die alone, for on its own

    Each ember loses fire:

    Yet joined in one the flame burns on

    To give warmth and light, and to inspire.

    Amen

    Welcome back for our fourth drive-in service. We have another addition this week—hymns! We now have the ability to play pre-recorded audio, which opens up a large library of possibilities.

    Unfortunately, I didn't get the balance of the recording right this week and the podcast suffers from it. I'm still tweaking things and adding new bits and pieces each week and hope to balance everything out soon, or return to the much more familiar Sanctuary setup.

    Prelude - Even So, Lord Jesus Come (arr. Fred Bock) - Micah Wright, piano

    Welcome & News of the Church

    Call to Worship

    Hymn #323 - "Holy! Holy! Holy! Lord God Almighty"

    Moment for Children

    Confession and Assurance, led by Rev. Sharon Yagerlener

    Doxology

    Sermon - "Boldness & Healing" (Acts 4:23–31) - by Rev. Jason Griffice

    Praise Song - "You Make Me Brave" by Amanda Cook - PCC Praise Band

    Pastoral Prayer, led by Amy Hemseri-Sabala

    Call for the Tithes and Offerings

    Offertory - "Overwhelmed" by Johhny Redmond - PCC Praise Band

    Benediction

    Musical Outro

    Holy! Holy! Holy! Lord God Almighty

    Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

    Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;

    Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!

    God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

    Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,

    Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;

    Cherubim and Seraphim falling down before Thee,

    Who wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

    Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,

    Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;

    Only Thou art holy—there is none beside Thee

    Perfect in power, in love and purity.

    Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!

    All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea;

    Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!

    God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

    Amen.

    Welcome back and welcome back! This is our first week meeting at the church campus and what a blazing achievement it was.

    • Parking lot roasted,
    • Few people toasted,
    • Teaching on prayer,
    • Then Communion was hosted.

    We hope that next week

    The heat will be weak

    So pull up a chair

    As God's teaching we seek.

    All People That on Earth Do Dwell

    All people that on earth do dwell,

    Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;

    Him serve with mirth, His praise forth tell,

    Come ye before Him and rejoice.

    Know that the Lord is God indeed:

    Without our aid He did us make;

    We are His folk, He doth us feed,

    And for His sheep He doth us take.

    O enter then His gates with praise,

    Aproach with joy His courts unto;

    Praise, laud, and bless His name always,

    For it is seemly so to do.

    For why? the Lord our God is good,

    His mercy is forever sure;

    His truth at all times firmly stood,

    And shall from age to age endure.

    Amen.

    The Word stands for itself and we testify to that fact. But humans are fallible. What is it that sets one apart as a reliable witness?

    Prelude - "Jesus Saves" (arr. Mark Hayes) - Micah Wright, piano

    Welcome & News of the Church

    Call to Worship

    Hymn #21 - "Loves Divine, All Loves Excelling"

    Moment for Children & Youth

    Offertory - "He Leadeth Me" (arr. Mary McDonald) - PCC Choir

    Prayers of the People, led by Amy Hemseri-Sabala

    Benediction

    Loves Divine, All Loves Excelling

    Love divine, all loves excelling,

    Joy of heaver to earth come down,

    Fix in us Thy humble dwelling,

    All Thy faithful mercies crown.

    Jesus, Thou art all compassion,

    Pure, unbounded love Thou art;

    Visit us with Thy salvation,

    Enter every trembling heart.

    Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit

    Into every troubled breast;

    Let us all in Thee inherit,

    Let us find Thy promised rest.

    Take away our bent to sinning,

    Alpha and Omega be;

    End of faith, as its beginning,

    Set our hearts at liberty.

    Come, Almighty to deliver,

    Let us all Thy life receive;

    Suddenly return, and never,

    Nevermore Thy temples leave.

    Thee we would be always blessing,

    Serve Thee as Thy hosts above,

    Pray, and praise Thee without ceasing,

    Glory in Thy perfect love.

    Finish then Thy new creation,

    Pure and spotless let us be;

    Let us see Thy great salvation

    Perfectly restored in Thee.

    Changed from glory into glory,

    'Til in heaven we take our place,

    'Til we cast our crowns before Thee,

    Lost in wonder, love, and praise.
