To appease the Democrats, President Donald Trump has offered three years of deportation protections for some immigrants in exchange for $5.7 billion in Mexican border wall funding.

Mr Trump said in a speech on Saturday to try and end a partial government shutdown he was offering a "commonsense compromise both parties should embrace".
