This week we are honored to have guest speaker Freddie Anderson, the Director of Huntsville Institutional Ministry (HIM). He has served with this ministry since 1983. The HIM ministry is located in Huntsville, Texas and the mission there is to help each inmate, regardless of his past, aware of the gospel.
This ministry is under the oversight of the Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview, and is supported in part by Prestoncrest and Prestoncrest's Men's Prison Ministry Team (coordinated by Clay Short) that visits the men's prison in Huntsville each quarter to help lead worship, serve, and support Freddie.
Freddie's background in prison ministry began as he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 1978 from LSU with a minor in Law Enforcement. He worked as a corrections officer in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He earned his Master’s in Criminology (1982) from Sam Houston State University.
Freddie is married to Jessie and they have four adult children. He is sought after as a speaker for workshops, seminars, and gospel meetings.

Acts 2.36 (ESV) Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
Romans 1.16 (ESV) I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Acts 2.22 (NIV) Fellow Israelites, listen to this. . .
Jesus was sent by God.
Acts 2.22 (ESV) Jesus of Nazareth . . . attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst . . .
Jesus was crucified.
Acts 2.23 (ESV) . . . you crucified and killed . . .
Jesus was raised from the dead.
Acts 2.24 (ESV) God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
Jesus is Lord.
Acts 2.36 (ESV) “God has made this Jesus… both Lord and Christ.”
You can’t receive God’s grace until you recognize your need for it.
You can’t heal what you won’t admit is broken.
Acts 2.37 (ESV) Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
Acts 2.38 (ESV) Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Repent.
Be baptized.
Receive forgiveness of your sins.
Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2.39 (ESV) The promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.
Acts 2.41 (ESV) So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
The Spirit empowered the message… and the message demanded a response.
Where is God calling you to speak up?
The same Spirit who helped Peter find his voice will help you find yours.

WHEN THE FIRE FELL

The early church waited in prayer for God’s power, trusting that His mission requires His Spirit (Acts 1:14).
Acts 1.14 (NLT) They all met together and were constantly united in prayer.
The mission of God requires the power of God.
On Pentecost, God moved with power and presence—like wind and fire—empowering ordinary people to proclaim His message to the nations (Acts 2:1–11).
Acts 2.5 (ESV) There were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.
Isaiah 49.6 (ESV) I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.
Acts 2.13 (NLT) But others in the crowd ridiculed them, saying, “They’re just drunk, that’s all!”
When God does something powerful…
you have to decide what you’re going to do with it.
The Christian life was never meant to run on human effort.
It starts with the Spirit.
It continues with the Spirit.
And it is sustained by the Spirit.
