After a few weeks off we are back with another crazy story from the beauty world. We also have decided to start to incorporate stories from our clients because... why not?! Starting with this week's story Blackmail on Tinder, where we one of our friends gets cat fished, blackmailed and has to go to all his friends and family and ask them if they have received an in appropriate video of him on social media.
I always learn something from the stories that are shared by our Pretty Pillowtalk Fam and this week was no exception. In this week's story we find Bob faced with hard situation. To summarize Bob sent a video on Tinder to a girl he was talking to, that girl turned out to be a guy who then turned around and blackmailed Bob saying if he didn't give him X amount of dollars he would send the video to all of Bob's friends and family. What?!!!!!
We are constantly on the internet, to do business, network, create community, in social media and now most especially in social dating. We trust people we cannot see and touch in real life and rely wholly on images they show us. Then make decisions that can impact us and create long reaching consequences for us that we can't even imagine. The video that Bob sent can't be taken back or deleted permanently. Each picture I post, each search I type in to the search bar will live there forever. I think we have all come to accept that to some degree, but when it is used to hurt us, we are then reminded of how vulnerable we have become and how fragile our concept of privacy is and get a stinging reminder of how public our private moments really are.
FYI: If you have been missing Miss Alana's sweet voice she has been busy with her move to Iwakuni Japana and will be back with us shortly!
Has this happened to you? I highly doubt Bob is the first person who has been blackmailed on Tinder... Do you have a funny story to tell or that you know needs to be shared? If you do please email us @[email protected] or shoot us a DM @prettypillowtalkpodcast
We would also love it if you would leave a review on Apple iTunes
