Priceless Backstories with Amy Bromberg

I met Tanya through Athletes in Action, during my senior year of softball at Wright State. She continues to be a role model in my life - and genuinely lives out her faith with laughter and tears.  This was a hilariously fun conversation to record, as well as a tough conversation to record.  I am super grateful to give you access to this conversation of two friends who share in this space of what it's like to journey cancer in community.

Hey- I’m Tanya Motorin. I am a life-long learner and lover of Jesus. I’m wired to engage with people, hear their stories and share mine. I’m a wife who went all the way to Kazakhstan to find my husband, Nikita. Together, we have three amazing children who are the best and worst of us. It is our great privilege to point them to Jesus and show them what His love looks like. Of course we fail daily, but I am thankful that God even uses our brokenness to teach those around us about his grace. I am one of those annoying people who loves what I do for a living and my husband and I count it a privilege to serve the athletic community at UCLA and the LA coastline, through the ministry of Athletes in Action. I love expressing myself through writing, teaching, creating, organizing, and cooking. Whenever I’m not cheering my kids on at their sporting events and spending too much money at TARGET, I enjoy traveling, going to the beach, camping, hiking, playing “Make Me Laugh,” and watching a good movie. My amazing husband, Nikita and I live in Mar Vista, California with our daughters Hope and Sophia, our son Zion, our Chiweenie, Daisy, and hamster, Seymour.

Stacey and I talk favorite sports moments, roadtrips, movies, music early on. Stacey is so natural at sharing her story of identity as a child born with cleft lip and palate, undergoing multiple surgeries, playing college basketball and journey of finding herself, her faith in God, identity, and her purpose. It's quite a conversation!! 

Stacey's Book: "Deeper than the Scars" earned 4.5 stars on Amazon - and is a great compilation of stories and themes of her life experiences. She naturally shares how God's word and certain verses impacted her in turning points of her journey. If you have a teenage girl or know a college girl, you'll definitely want to get a copy for them. If you know or have a child with a cleft lip or born with a physical disability, this is a great book for you. I've personally underlined multiple pages of this book. It's genuinely spoken to my heart by the life lessons and quotes from what she's learned and experienced in her life and how relevant it is to my life!!  It's reminded me of who I am in Christ and how God sees me!! If you want/need a real story based on identity, this book is also for you!!
