A 7.25 million dollar settlement has been reached in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from a tragic 2021 car crash in Princeton, New Jersey. The collision occurred when a stolen vehicle driven by a teenager fleeing the scene slammed head-on into an oncoming car, resulting in the deaths of both the young driver and innocent motorist Jodi Marcou. Legal action was brought against multiple parties, eventually implicating Princeton Mayor Mark Freda for using a personal vehicle's blue warning lights to pursue the fleeing suspects. Although he faced no criminal charges, Freda was temporarily suspended by the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad for violating internal policies regarding unauthorized light usage and traffic laws during the pursuit. The financial payout was distributed among several defendants and insurance policies, bringing a legal resolution for the grieving family without the need for a trial.
