Jesus was known as the friend of sinners. Today we’ll look at two parables that reveal God’s heart for the lost. These are beautiful and also challenging passages. After all, being a sinner is easy, but being a “friend of sinners” is messy and not usually easy.

Jesus is willing to give you a radically transformed life, but are you ready and able to follow him? This week, we’ll examine the cost of discipleship as Jesus lays it out in Luke 14:25. As we’ve been exploring Jesus’ teachings on the Kingdom of God, we’ve been learning a lot about what he’s been calling us into. Today, we’re going to take a look at what the invitation to the Kingdom will call us away from and the promise it holds for us.

Without the resurrection, Christianity simply would not exist. All of Jesus’ life, the miracles he performed, and the claims he made about himself would be pure nonsense without the resurrection. History would have long ago forgotten about the zealot who claimed to be the Son of God, but lacked the capacity to save himself from death. It’s only when we understand Jesus’ life and ministry in light of the resurrection that it all makes sense.

Today, we’re going to look at why the resurrection is so much more than a cold historical fact. The resurrection is a life-changing event that we have the opportunity to experience personally today.
