God's love originates in his person and is found in all of scripture - Old and New Testament. In the New Testament, we are called to love one another with the same self-sacrificial love God showed us through Jesus.

As we celebrate this past week, we connect our theme of God's goodness with our Sunday morning series. We look to Jesus as he transforms the disciple's question. The disciples wanted an answer for who sinned, but Jesus focuses on the way God is glorified.

This week we turn to the divine mystery of how God can be three persons - Father, Son and Spirit - and yet still be one. God calls each of us to join in his work - to bring unity and to change hearts.

This week we recognize the celebration of Pentecost. The Israelites would remember how they received grace then received the Law. The law was a way to live a full life. Now we receive grace through Jesus and are filled with the Spirit who brings the fullness of life.

In 1 Peter chapter 5, the devil is said to be prowling like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. For many of us, the beginning of our journey with God is also the beginning of a battle resisting the attack of the Devil. Before Peter talks about the devil he says cast all our anxiety on God. As we think together about how we are to trust in God when experiencing anxiety, we will hear from Emily Hull as she shares her personal experience of anxiety and faith.

Five times she was rejected and thrown out. This causes her to show up at the well in the afternoon - separated from the community. Now she meets a Jewish man at the well. Of all the times she had experienced rejection, she probably would have experienced rejection here too.

Lamentations 1:1-9

Lamentations is a book which cries out to God regarding the destruction of Jerusalem. What was once a great city has been brought to ruins. The temple which represented the presence and promise of God was no more. Sometimes there are experiences in our own lives which surprise us. Sometimes things don't go the way that we expected them to go. Even in these times, it's OK not to be OK.
