Isn't it interesting that, once we start aiming for our life purpose, we start comparing ourselves to others? We begin to ask ourselves all manner of very unproductive questions!
We ALL do this.
Last week I launched a series of episodes on Japanese principles and how they apply to our work life, starting with Ikigai. Well, this week is the perfect follow-up: the principle of Oubaitori. What is Oubaitori? It is the art of never comparing yourself to others.
In this episode, I talk about how you can use the principle of Oubaitori to help center you and find three things:
1) your own value
2) your unique story
3) your strengths
Once you have identified these things, you can then focus on your own growth and potential instead of falling into "compare and despair" mode. Remember, Oubaitori reminds you that you in and of yourself are beautiful, wonderful, and worthy. You don't need anyone else to validate that for you.
