  • Sri Aurobindo's Savitri - The Auroville Radio Talks: Book IV, Canto IV, Part 1

The World-Ways open before Savitri as she follows her inner and outer road. She is guided by both her individual portion of the Immortal Self and her individual soul. A deeper consciousness wells up in her and she remembers things that are a part of old forgotten selves from previous births. Even her journey to find her mate is not new to her. To her remembering witness soul she seemed to trace again a journey to her mate that she often made before. Sri Aurobindo teaches us about past lives and the action of karma by telling us this part of the story. He describes the “dim-masked, hooded godheads” who are at the same time the agents of our will, the witnesses of all we do, and the powers who carry out our fate. These are some of the karmic gods, assigned to us from birth, who carry the unbroken thread that old lives have spun. He also shows us the action of our Jivatma, our portion of the Self which is always seated above our head and is always there to guide our lives.

  • Sri Aurobindo's Savitri - The Auroville Radio Talks: Book IV, Canto II, Part 2

Savitri is a lovely being – a friend, yet too great wholly to know. To be near her drew a high communion’s force. Through the story of how people relate to Savitri, Sri Aurobindo tells us stories about how people related to Mother with their imperfect human development in the Ashram. Savitri is so high that no equal heart comes near to join her longing heart; no comrade soul made like her – made one as God and Nature are one. Whoever is too great must lonely live. Thus was it awhile with Savitri…her spirit dwelt apart until her hour of fate. This program includes a beautiful story of seeing Mother for the first time.

  • Sri Aurobindo's Savitri - The Auroville Radio Talks: Book III, Canto III, Part 3

The Traveller of the Worlds, King Aswapathy, has reached the Supramental world – the highest consciousness – the goal of all spiritual seeking. But he has not yet attained his personal goal of asking the Divine Mother to come and fix our problems here on the earth plane. The King saw that he was two beings; one being was the part of him that was wide and free, above the world in the Supramental plane; but the other one was his body, struggling and bound, on earth, in mystic sleep, unable to call the Mother. Only the King’s heart was left to call Her. The King could see his living, sacrificed and offered heart, conscious and alone, far down below him, like a lamp in night. Extinction could not quench that lonely fire. Accepting bliss as the sole cause of things and refusing the austere joy which none can share, it turned to its far-off source of light and love, and waited for the Word of The Supreme. The introduction to this part of Savitri includes a history of how the King is changed from The Kingdoms and Godheads of The Greater Mind in Canto XI up to the Supermind, and how we will also change.
