Private dollars backing Coliseum renovations could come with hidden costs
Dane County’s bid to renovate the aging Veterans Memorial Coliseum is estimated to cost 150 million dollars – a hefty price tag considering the county’s recent 31 million dollar deficit.
Seeking capital investment in the project, the county sent out a request for proposals this fall for a public-private partnership. And they received just one response – from Frank Productions Concerts Live, LLC., a promoter with ties to the city of Madison.
But chair of the Madison Arts Commission Nick Pjevach is urging county leaders to review the proposal with a critical eye. He joined our News Producer Faye Parks to explain why he decided to speak out.
