Uncontrolled garbage dump A landfill is a place where waste is kept. Waste is usually buried in landfills.

About 0.1 million tonnes of municipal solid waste is generated in India every day. That

is approximately 36.5 million tonnes annually. Per capita waste generation in

major Indian cities ranges from 0.2 Kg to 0.6 Kg. In Tamil Nadu per day generation of

waste 14,000 metrics per day . On this 90% of waste goes to landfills without any proper

segregation, this leads air, water & land pollution .The main reason was failure is

segregation of waste at the source of generation. According to the survery in the 65% of

waste are comes from the households, mixer of wet waste and dry waste .The best place

for waste management is households
