Joe Rizzo makes baseball come to life with the help of old buddy and fellow WFUV (Fordham) alum Jeff “Dawg” Healy. This is the most in-depth review of the games through four days of Strat-O-Matic’s amazing simulated MLB season. For Strat-heads, this one will be extra special, because there is a lot of chatter about […]

Joe Rizzo is joined by PR expert and Strat guru Jerry Milani (@GBPackJerry) to talk about some of their history together playing Strat-O-Matic, including the Hall of Fame 2000 season in which they went head-to-head for the title, in an at-bat that came down to Goose Goslin vs. Sandy Koufax. Jerry is like the Joe House to Riz’s Bill Simmons, but this is the Fordham version. They sprinkled in the Strat simulation results from Saturday, March 28, and highlighted the performers of the day, including David Price and Eloy Jimenez, plus took a look at the league leaders through two or three games. There were no rainouts! But there was some history on middling Yankees relievers, from Adam Ottavino to Cecilio Guante. Tune in to find out how they are linked! Joe Rizzo is back with the second day of the Strat-O-Matic 2020 baseball season simulation, and the stars were a couple of SoCal infielders and Rafael Devers (again). Rizzo examined why Devers’ former teammate, Mookie Betts, could possibly never play a game for the Dodgers after MLB and the MLB Players Association ironed out some details about how service time and other important off-the-field issues will be handled. What will rosters and a schedule look like if regular-season baseball is being played through October, with November playoffs? Also, for Strat diehards, the importance of lefty-righty matchups usually means the difference between success and failure.
