European Lithium Ltd (ASX: EUR, OTCQB: EULIF) newly appointed Executive General Manager of Exploration George Karageorge talked with Proactive’s Tylah Tully about the company's acquisition of the Leinster Lithium Project in Ireland.
Karageorge, a veteran of the lithium mining sector, shared his insights on the deal's potential and the project's prospects.
Drawing from his tenure at Pilbara Minerals, Karageorge highlighted his deep experience in spodumene deposits and exploration and what attached him to European Lithium’s new deposit in Ireland.
"What stands out about the Leinster Lithium Project," he noted, "is the consistency of high-grade lithium oxide at surface, running at an average of 2.5% to 3.5%."
Karageorge also emphasised the project's strategic significance amidst Europe's growing need for local lithium supply to support the transition to electric vehicles and renewable energy storage.
With its surface mineralisation and similarities to world-class deposits in Western Australia, the project offers compelling potential for near-term development.
The interview delves into the transaction structure, exploration plans, and the geopolitical dynamics shaping lithium demand in Europe.
As Karageorge summed up, "This is a ground-zero approach to unlocking a high-quality project with outstanding characteristics."
