  • Just the Facts: Lightning Minerals pinpoints strong lithium targets at Caraíbas
Proactive’s Tylah Tully breaks down ‘Just the Facts’ of the latest news from Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M).
The company has identified strong lithium targets at its Caraíbas project in the Lithium Valley region of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Soil sampling assays have yielded values up to 239ppm lithium, with numerous results exceeding 100ppm, confirming a strong soil response within the Salinas Formation geological unit.
The sampling program comprised 343 samples along 400-metre lines, identifying two key anomalism trends: a 2-kilometre by 700-metre area and a 800 by 300-metre area. Ground reconnaissance has revealed multiple pegmatites and float material, further supporting earlier findings. These results increase confidence in drillable targets for 2025.
This progress follows a spodumene discovery at another Lightning project in Brazil last month, which returned grades of up to 4.04% lithium oxide. The company has prioritised the western half of the Caraíbas project due to its geological setting and early reconnaissance results.
Phase one sampling across all tenements is expected to finish by Christmas, enabling preparations for drilling at the Esperança project in Q1 2025. Reconnaissance and mapping efforts continue at Canabrava, Esperança and Caraíbas, with additional results anticipated shortly.

  • Just the Facts: Percheron hits milestone in Duchenne drug trial
Proactive’s Tylah Tully breaks down ‘Just the Facts’ of the latest news from Percheron Therapeutics Ltd (ASX:PER, OTC:PERCF).
The company has reached a significant milestone in its Phase 2b clinical trial of avicursen (ATL-1102), a treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. All 48 participants completed their week-25 visits, marking a key point in the trial focused on non-ambulant boys with advanced disease progression, a subgroup representing approximately half of the Duchenne population.
Data validation and statistical analysis are underway, with the six-month topline results expected to be released during the week of December 16. This readout will be the first to assess avicursen’s activity in Duchenne patients, guiding the company’s path toward potential registration and commercialisation. Additional results from the study are anticipated in mid-2025 and then the second half of 2025, including 16-month data.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare genetic condition causing progressive muscle degeneration, predominantly affecting males with a life expectancy of 22 to 28 years. Avicursen has been granted orphan drug and rare paediatric disease designations by the US FDA, recognising the therapy's potential importance for this critical patient group.
Percheron aims to deliver further updates as the trial progresses, with data from the current phase expected just weeks after the final patient visit.

  • Volta Metals identifies new Lithium targets at Falcon West , advancing exploration in Ontario
Volta Metals CEO Kerem Usenmez joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share promising results from a mobile metal ion (MMI) soil sampling program at the Falcon West Lithium Project in Northwest Ontario. The sampling, guided by high-resolution aeromagnetic and LIDAR surveys, identified five primary and five secondary targets with anomalous lithium response ratios, suggesting strong potential for lithium-bearing pegmatites.
The program not only targeted lithium but also cesium, tantalum, and indicative minerals such as tin. Additionally, dispersion minerals like rare-alkali biotite, tourmaline, and holmquistite—a lithium-associated mineral often located within 5 to 20 meters of spodumene mineralization—were detected.
The sizable 2.5 km by 1.5 km cluster of targets indicates the Falcon West Pegmatite Swarm could be significantly larger than previously defined. These findings justify further exploration, including overburden stripping of priority targets to develop additional drill sites.
Volta Metals is committed to unlocking Falcon West's potential, advancing its position in the critical minerals sector as global demand for lithium continues to grow.

  • Power Nickel provides exploration update on Lion Zone discovery at Nisk Project in Quebec
Power Nickel Inc CEO Terry Lynch joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share an exploration update on the Lion Zone discovery at the Nisk Project near Nemaska, Quebec. Assays to date reveal that the Lion Zone extends over a strike length of 550 meters, adjacent to an ultramafic rock unit outcropping at surface for 1.8 kilometers.
The winter drill program is advancing westward from the established 550-meter strike length, with step-out drilling at 150-meter intervals. Holes 76, 78, 79, 80, and 81 have been completed, with assays pending, to evaluate the zone’s western extension and the plunging nature of the deposit along strike.
The exploration team employs advanced tools such as downhole electromagnetic (EM) surveys, tracking the mineralized area’s extent, which remains open to the east, west, and at depth. The program includes a substantial 30,000 meters of drilling, with plans to incorporate scientific insights to refine future efforts.
Currently, two drills are active on-site, with a third set to join after the holiday season. The continued progress at Nisk underscores Power Nickel’s commitment to expanding the Lion Zone’s potential and advancing its role in critical mineral exploration.

Zero Candida Co-Founder and CEO Eli Ben-Haroosh joined Steve Darling from Proactive to mark a significant milestone as the company opened the market in celebration of its listing on the TSX Venture Exchange under the ticker symbol ZCT. The listing highlights the company’s mission to revolutionize women’s health with its groundbreaking technology.
Zero Candida’s patented innovation leverages controlled “Blue Light” technology to effectively destroy fungal infections at unprecedented speed and without side effects. Delivered via a tampon-like medical device, this novel treatment offers a comprehensive solution for eliminating vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) and preventing its recurrence.
VVC, commonly known as yeast infection, affects approximately 75% of women during their reproductive years. For 8-10% of women, these infections are recurrent, with four or more episodes annually. Globally, 138 million women face recurrent infections every year, a number expected to rise to 158 million by 2030.
Key factors contributing to recurrent VVC include antibiotic use, hormonal changes, and sexual activity. Zero Candida’s innovative approach seeks to meet the unmet needs of this growing demographic, offering a safer and more effective alternative to current treatments.
According to Ben-Haroosh, Zero Candida’s technology represents a major advancement in the FemTech sector, providing a transformative solution for women’s health challenges. With its public listing, the company is well-positioned to accelerate its mission of improving outcomes for millions of women globally.

  • Candel Therapeutics advances Phase 2b trial for innovative prostate cancer treatment
Candel Therapeutics Chief Medical Officer Garrett Nichols spoke with Steve Darling from Proactive to provide updates on the company’s Phase 2b trial of their innovative treatment, designed for patients with localized early prostate cancer.
The trial involves 188 men with low to intermediate-risk prostate cancer—individuals who often choose active surveillance to avoid the side effects of invasive treatments. However, the psychological burden of potential disease progression frequently pushes patients toward radical options, such as prostate removal surgery.
The study aims to compare outcomes between patients receiving two doses of the treatment, administered alongside a prodrug, and those continuing with active surveillance alone. The primary goal is to reduce biopsy-confirmed progression rates in this population.
If proven effective, this therapy could become the first non-invasive option for managing prostate cancer in these patients, addressing a significant unmet need. “Our goal is to demonstrate a meaningful reduction in the risk of progression,” Dr. Nichols stated, highlighting the potential for the treatment to reshape care standards pending further clinical validation in Phase 3 trials.
