The conversation covered the challenges of project financing, with positive signals emerging due to Paraguay’s new investment grade status. Despite the delays, Mussat expressed optimism, stating, "We are seeing all the good signals... a path to FID is clear."

  • Ionic Rare Earths study highlights recycling facility’s role in green energy and supply chain independence

    The facility will process pre-consumer and end-of-life rare earth magnet scrap, supporting the UK’s green transition and supply chain independence.
    Key findings include a post-tax net present value (NPV) of US$502 million (A$776 million), a 43.6% internal rate of return (IRR) and a capital payback period of 2.4 years.
    Over 20 years, the facility is projected to generate US$2.12 billion (A$3.26 billion) in net revenue and US$1.78 billion (A$2.76 billion) in EBITDA.
    With an annual throughput of 1,200 tonnes, it will produce 400 tonnes of high-purity REOs, such as neodymium and dysprosium oxides.
    Located at Belfast Harbour, the plant will feature patented recycling technology by Ionic Technologies, requiring no mining and reducing environmental impacts.
    Construction is expected by late 2026, with production starting in early 2027.
    Supported by the UK Government’s Critical Minerals Strategy and partnerships with companies like Less Common Metals, the project advances a Western rare earth supply chain and aligns with global green energy goals. Ionic Rare Earths also plans to replicate this model internationally.

    These models allow accurate testing of potential drug efficacy, particularly in pancreatic cancer cases with oncogenic mutations.
    The collaboration will test Amplia’s FAK inhibitors, such as narmafotinib (AMP945), against pancreatic cancer cells harbouring kRas mutations.
    Narmafotinib, Amplia’s selective and potent FAK inhibitor, is currently in a Phase 2a trial evaluating its safety and efficacy in combination with gemcitabine and Abraxane®. The collaboration also investigates potential synergistic effects with kRas inhibitors, which could open new therapeutic opportunities for pancreatic cancer.
    Burns highlighted the significance of testing the company’s FAK inhibitors in patient-derived cell systems to explore new commercial applications for combination therapies in pancreatic cancer.

    Underwood highlighted that the company had received environmental approval from the Northern Territory Government for its Environmental Management Plan. This is critical as Empire Energy moves into pilot production, which includes the drilling of more wells and the installation of a gas processing plant.
    Discussing the new Carpentaria 5H well, Underwood explained that it would be the largest well the company has drilled to date.
    He stated, “We are obviously very excited about the prospect of starting to generate revenue… The primary goal of the program is to be able to produce these wells over longer time periods, so we can get a good sense of how they produce over time.”
    Empire Energy plans to install a gas processing plant and commence gas sales during the dry season in early Q2 of next year. The company has also estimated its gas resources at approximately 5.00 trillion cubic feet, demonstrating the commercial potential of its asset in the Beetaloo Sub-Basin.

    The results include 1 metre at 61.20 g/t gold and 1,979 g/t silver within a broader intersection of 4.8 metres at 22.79 g/t gold and 513.2 g/t silver.
    These results suggest the potential extension of the gold vein system over a 1.5-kilometre strike length, open for further exploration to the north and south.
    The company is now evaluating these results to update its mineral resource estimate.
    Macpherson noted that these findings reinforced Tolu's strategy to leverage existing infrastructure and operational capabilities at Tolukuma, aiming to position it as a significant gold and silver producer.
    The drilling program is Tolu's first outside the Tolukuma mining lease, validating geophysical exploration tools, including historical and recent 3D Induced Polarisation and Airborne Magneto Telluric surveys.
    The drill rig has now returned to the Tolukuma mine site to seek further gold resources in a bid to extend the mine’s future operational capacity.
