  • Bitcoin holds steady amid market pressure, Coinbase reports and Trump lends support - Crypto Roundup
In this week's episode of Proactive's Crypto Roundup, Billy Farrington discusses the recent performance of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency-related news.
Bitcoin's price has been relatively stable, decreasing by approximately 1.6% against the US dollar, despite potential market pressures. These pressures include the distribution of $9 billion in Bitcoin from the defunct Mt. Gox exchange, which has so far not significantly impacted Bitcoin's price. Additionally, the Federal Reserve maintained interest rates at 5.5%, which did not provide any significant boost to Bitcoin.
Coinbase reported strong financial results with revenues doubling year-on-year to $1.4 billion and turning a profit of $38 million for the second quarter, compared to a loss in the same period last year.
However, quarter-on-quarter trading volumes decreased by 28%, likely due to Bitcoin's volatility. Despite this, Coinbase's share price is expected to rise modestly. An interesting development at Coinbase is the growth of its blockchain infrastructure product, Base, which saw a 300% increase in transactions.
Former President Donald Trump appeared at Bitcoin 2024, where he criticised the Biden-Harris administration's approach to cryptocurrency and advocated for increased Bitcoin reserves in the Federal Reserve. His statements did not significantly impact Bitcoin's price, suggesting market scepticism regarding his potential influence.

  • FTSE 100 hits five-month low amid global economic concerns
The FTSE 100 fell to a five-month low as trading commenced on Monday, driven by global concerns over a potential slowdown in the US economy. Shares of Rolls-Royce experienced a decline, partially reversing last week's gains following reports that the company is considering selling a stake in its mini nuclear power division. Other notable fallers included Melrose, Entain, Barclays, and NatWest, as the global sell-off, triggered by Friday’s weak US job report, continued.
Separately, Wingstop, a chicken chain, has engaged Goldman Sachs to assist in finding prospective buyers for its UK operations. Additionally, Air Astana, which recently debuted in London, saw its shares slip despite announcing record half-year passenger figures, bolstered by its Chinese routes.

  • Gold Hydrogen confirms high hydrogen and helium purity levels
Gold Hydrogen Ltd (ASX:GHY) managing director Neil McDonald sits down with Proactive’s Jonathan Jackson to discuss the progress of its exploration of natural hydrogen and helium at the Ramsay Project on the Yorke Peninsula of South Australia. This quarter, the company completed Stage 1 testing and started the next exploration phase. High concentrations of both gases were confirmed in the Ramsay 2 well, with hydrogen purity levels reaching up to 95.8% (air-corrected) at approximately 531 metres deep. Helium levels during initial testing reached 17.5%, with recent results indicating an increase to 20%-25%.
Stage 2 testing has begun, focusing on dewatering the well to enhance gas flow to the surface. GHY identified a 180-metre-thick helium pay zone in Stage 1, indicating significant potential for commercial extraction. A 2D seismic survey was also completed to guide future drilling targets and well designs.
GHY holds one granted petroleum exploration licence (PEL 687) and has seven additional applications, covering about 75,332 square kilometres. The company ended the quarter with A$15.6 million, supporting its exploration and development plans, including establishing a contingent estimated gas resource for Ramsay.
The project's 2U (best estimate) prospective hydrogen resources stand at 1.313 million tonnes with a 10% commercialisation probability (PC). The helium resource (2U prospective) is estimated at 41 billion cubic feet (bcf) with a 10% PC. These resources are conceptual targets requiring further exploration and evaluation.

  • Astral Resources delivers “most successful program to date” at Kamperman
Astral Resources NL (ASX:AAR) managing director Marc Ducler sits down with Proactive’s Jonathan Jackson to discuss what could be the company’s most successful drilling campaign to date.
Astral has received the first 23 assay results from its 26-hole reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Kamperman Prospect, part of its Feysville Gold Project near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The results demonstrate continuity of gold mineralisation along 450 metres of strike at the prospect, which remains open to the north and east.
Ducler said the program could be the most successful to date at Kamperman, confirming geological interpretations and identifying a broad 30-metre-wide zone of consistent +2g/t gold mineralisation in the southern zone. A mineral resource estimate is underway for Kamperman, with similar work at Rogan Josh and Think Big being finalised.
Attention is shifting to the Theia Deposit at the Mandilla Gold Project, with a 6,000-metre in-fill RC drilling phase starting next week. After this, Astral will return to Feysville to follow up on significant gold anomalies to the north-west of Kamperman.
The Feysville Gold Project is situated within the Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt and hosts significant gold and nickel mineralisation. It includes an existing mineral resource estimate of 3 million tonnes at 1.3g/t gold for 116,000 ounces at the Think Big deposit, potentially serving as satellite ore feed for the Mandilla Gold Project.
In-fill drilling results at Kamperman support a high-grade west-dipping gold zone extending over 450 metres of strike, with mineralisation open to the north and east. Assay results include notable intersections such as 38 metres at 2.12g/t Au and 19 metres at 3.32g/t Au, among others. These results will underpin a maiden MRE for Kamperman, expected to be completed in the September quarter.

  • Adriatic Metals achieves 'significant milestone' with first revenues from Vares Silver Operation
Adriatic Metals PLC (LSE:ADT1, ASX:ADT, OTCQX:ADMLF) chief executive Paul Cronin takes Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the company's latest quarterly activities report.
Adriatic Metals generated its first revenue from the Vares silver mine in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the June quarter, marking a significant milestone for the company. Despite the initial revenue being modest due to the early stages of processing and commissioning, the company anticipates higher production consistency and improved numbers in Q3 as it commences blasting the first stope.
Cronin highlighted that the plant is already processing saleable concentrates with improving recoveries, aligning with the plant's design expectations. Adriatic Metals aims to reach commercial production by the end of October, with a focus on meeting milestones set by their project financing agreements.
Additionally, the company has successfully begun selling silver-lead and zinc concentrates to off-takers, achieving another key milestone by transporting their first trainload of concentrate to the port of Ploče. Despite facing challenges, including a recent court ruling affecting its tailings storage facility, Cronin expressed confidence in finding a legislative solution or an alternative facility by the end of October.
Cronin also discussed ongoing exploration drilling efforts, with five rigs currently operating to extend the Rupice deposit and explore new areas on existing licenses, as well as continuing activities in Serbia.
