Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) technical director Chris Oorschot joins Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio to discuss the company’s ground gravity survey at its Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project in Western Australia, in which new large-scale gold targets were identified. The survey, completed in April 2024, used a 200-metre by 200-metre grid across the northeast portion of the project, approximately 50 kilometres south of the Jundee Gold Mine.

The survey addressed areas where regional aerial magnetics failed to adequately resolve underlying stratigraphy and structural architecture. The processed ground gravity images, received in late May, revealed several compelling conceptual gold targets and a more complex structural setting than previously interpreted.

Notable findings include an interpreted large-scale north plunging fold structure, truncated by a northwest striking shear zone. This structural setup is akin to other world-class gold camps, such as the Golden Mile deposit and the Timmins-Porcupine gold district in Canada. Additionally, the survey highlighted the poorly tested Irulan dolerite, which shares a similar lithostructural setting with the Jundee Gold Mine.

Oorschot noted the discovery of potentially two new regional structures and expressed optimism about the high-quality regional datasets' benefits.

Upcoming activities include a detailed review of historical exploration, field reconnaissance, and analysis of regional soil sampling results due in mid-June. Yandal plans a comprehensive review of project-wide targets in July and maintains robust funding for ongoing exploration throughout 2024.

The approval comes from a newly formed exploration committee that has outlined a two-phase work plan for Myall in the Lachlan Fold Belt of central New South Wales for the 2024/2025 Financial Year.

The Myall Project farm-in and joint venture is between Magmatic and Fortescue’s FMG Resources Pty Ltd. Under a farm-in and JV agreement signed in March, FMG will invest up to $14 million over six years to earn up to a 75% interest in the Myall Project. An initial 51% interest can be earned by spending $6 million on exploration over the first four years, with a minimum commitment of $3 million and 3,000 metres of drilling in the first two years.

The exploration committee, which includes representatives from both companies, has developed a budget and work program for the coming year after reviewing past exploration activities and available datasets. Phase 1 will involve reassaying historic core and drill chips, resampling up to 75 holes, and reprocessing existing geophysical datasets. Phase 2 will include drilling six diamond holes, each 400-500 metres deep, in the Corvette/Kingswood region.

Phase 1 work has started, with most activities expected to be completed by the end of the year, subject to access and weather conditions. McKinnon expresses his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the potential for significant copper-gold discoveries.

The Myall program will run concurrently with exploration at Magmatic’s other projects, including aircore drilling at the Lady Ilse Prospect on the Wellington North Project.

Recent drilling at Norseman identified new zones of palladium and platinum mineralisation, with notable results including 64 metres at 0.22 g/t 3E from 104 metres, and 84 metres at 0.13 g/t 3E from 208 metres.

Underwood stated that the completion of the MinRes joint venture would initiate lithium exploration at Norseman. MinRes, with its extensive lithium experience, has secured the right to explore the untested lithium potential at Norseman. Galileo will continue focusing on nickel, PGEs, and gold exploration, leveraging the $5 million tranche to enhance their exploration capabilities. A second payment of $2.5 million is anticipated by May 30, 2025.

The joint venture currently stands at a 30%-70% ownership split between MinRes and Galileo for lithium exploration. MinRes can increase its stake to 55% by funding an additional $15 million, and to 70% by funding up to a decision to mine, with Galileo either contributing to development costs or converting its interest into a royalty.

In April and May, 2,700 metres of reverse circulation (RC) drilling identified sulphide minerals in various geological settings. Significant results have highlighted prospective palladium and platinum zones near geophysical anomalies. Follow-up drilling is scheduled for August to further explore these areas and new IP targets.
