Alamos Gold Inc (TSX:AGI, NYSE:AGI) President and CEO John McCluskey visits the Proactive London studio to speak with Thomas Warner on the occasion of the gold producer's twentieth anniversary.

McCluskey gives an overview of how the business transformed itself from what he describes as a small Canadian penny stock to being a significant north American gold producer, starting with the securing of an option to purchase a major asset when gold was priced around $300 an ounce.

Today, with gold at approximately $1,850 an ounce, the company boasts a production of over 2.5 million ounces of gold, generating nearly half a billion dollars in profit.

Key acquisitions, such as the Young-Davidson and the Island Gold mines, have significantly bolstered the company's portfolio.

McCluskey attributes Alamos Gold's success to efficient capital allocation, with returns averaging close to 14% over two decades.

Looking ahead, the company aims to increase its production from 500,000 ounces a year to 800,000 ounces by 2028, focusing primarily on Canadian assets.

McCluskey also shares his optimistic outlook on gold prices, citing potential macroeconomic factors that he believes may prove supportive.

Good morning from London where the FTSE 100 is off to a positive start despite some fear for the oil price and growing tension in the Middle East.

Here in the UK though, Next PLC is the big gainer so far today, with its share price benefiting from news that it plans to acquire rival high street fashion company FatFace. Boohoo shares also opened higher on news Mike Ashley’s Frasers had once again increased its holding in the company, which now sits at just over 15.1%.

Software firm Cerillion shares climbing as well after signalling profits should come in ahead of expectations thanks to strong second-half trading.

GSK was among those falling early on though, as news that its endometrial cancer drug Jerperli was recommended for approval in Europe failed to sway investors.

Also opening lower was Audioboom, which signalled lower revenue and a loss for the first nine months of the year.

And finally in small caps, Helium One Global shares rose early on after telling investors drilling was back underway at its Tanzanian project after a rig repair.

Maximus Resources Ltd (ASX:MXR, OTC:MXRRF) MD Tim Wither tells Proactive the company has formed a strategic lithium partnership with the Korea Mine Rehabilitation and Mineral Resources Corporation (KOMIR) in regards to its Lefroy Lithium Project in the “lithium corridor” of the Eastern Goldfields in Western Australia. The Korean government agency has agreed to fund US$3 million (A$4.8 million) of lithium exploration to earn 30% interest in a lithium joint venture across the Lefroy Lithium Project, which is about 20 kilometres south of Mineral Resources Ltd (ASX:MIN)’s Mt Marion lithium mine. Maximus retains significant upside, holding a 70% interest in the lithium JV at the end of the farm-in period.

Kootenay Silver CEO Jim McDonald joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share significant updates regarding the company's mineral resource estimate at the Promontorio-La Negra Project in Sonora, Mexico. The resource estimate encompasses both the updated Promontorio deposit and the maiden mineral resource estimate for the La Negra deposit, which is situated 7 kilometers to the north. These two deposits are considered part of the Promontorio Mineral Belt and are regarded as a single project.

The Promontorio deposit saw a notable increase in grades, with a 24% improvement. On a silver equivalent basis, the project is now estimated to host 162.8 million ounces in the Measured and Indicated (M+I) category, along with 44.4 million ounces in the Inferred category. When considering silver alone, the M+I resource is estimated at 68.2 million ounces, with an additional 17.6 million ounces in the Inferred category.

Additionally, the maiden resource estimate for the La Negra Silver Deposit has returned impressive overall grades. In the Indicated category, the average grade is 129 g/t silver equivalent, while in the Inferred category, it is 115 g/t silver equivalent. When considering a cutoff grade of 50 g/t silver equivalent, these grades increase to 146 g/t and 133 g/t silver equivalent, respectively, with only a modest decrease in the total contained silver ounces.

Kootenay Silver remains dedicated to advancing the Columba project, with a primary goal of defining a new high-grade resource. The company is eagerly anticipating new assay results in the coming weeks, furthering its exploration efforts and growth prospects.
