Sigma Lithium Corp CEO Ana Cabral-Gardner takes Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through some of the highlights of the green lithium producer's first-quarter performance.
Notably, Cabral-Gardner said the company commissioned an industry-first dry stacking circuit for ultra-fine materials, a significant achievement in the battery materials sector. It expects to achieve an annualized production capacity of 270,000 tons of green lithium in 3Q. The successful pace of implementation and technical milestones have been a key focus.
She underlined the lithium plant's operational efficiency, with the green site plant operating at 85% utilization and 95% of its nameplate capacity. The successful recovery of 65% of lithium, aligning with design targets, demonstrates Sigma Lithium's capability to produce high-grade material.
The company maintained a strong commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, effectively delivering on various targets, such as microcredit lines and irrigation bases.
Sigma Lithium also introduced new leadership positions, including a Chief Financial Officer and Chief Controls Officer, to elevate governance and meet Sarbanes Oxley standards. This move aligns with the company's ongoing talent upgrade strategy.
Future expansion plans encompass detailed engineering and construction, informed by the dry stacking circuit's success. It aims to remain at the forefront of the industry, consistently pushing forward in both production and sustainability efforts.
