IQGeo Group PLC (AIM:IQG) chief executive Richard Petti and chief financial officer Haywood Chapman speak to Thomas Warner from Proactive after releasing a trading update on the software developer's performance during the first half of 2023.

Chapman gives an overview of the update, highlighting several major new contract wins, before Petti goes on to reveal more about prevailing market conditions in the company's core telecommunications and utilities markets. He notes that demand for fibre networks is particularly high in North America, where significant investments are being made. Moreover utilities, especially those focusing on resiliency and renewable energy, are also contributing to IQGeo's growth.

He goes into more detail about the new contract wins in Germany and Japan, saying that the expansions demonstrate the effectiveness of their product and integration strategies.

Looking ahead, Chapman and Petti both express confidence about the second half of the year and beyond, highlighting their large customer base, increasing revenues from expansions, and a promising order intake.

Chapman says that he expects "to do at least what we've done in the first half of the year and hopefully more."

Good morning from London where the FTSE 100 has continued its upward trajectory so far today, and its mining companies leading the charge. Anglo American, Glencore and Antofagasta occupy are the top three risers, with Rio Tinto not far behind.

Plenty going on outside of the mineral space as well - EasyJet shares are down this morning as it warned of the need to mitigate what it calls the “challenging external environment” which including air traffic control disruption and people around the continent not having very much money at the moment.

Royal Mail owner International Distributions Services shares are up after it appointed new chief executive Martin Seidenberg on the back of flat first-quarter revenue. Dunelm is UP after the homeware retailer raised guidance for the year following what it described as a ‘robust’ final quarter in which sales grew by 6%.

Across the Atlantic both Tesla and Netflix fell after-hours as their respective trading updates failed to please investors. Netflix added some 5.9mln subscribers in the second quarter but missed revenue expectations, while Tesla penned record income but was hit with tighter margins. And finally in small caps, Arecor Therapeutics rose after hinting the latter part of the year could see inflexion points and further deal-making.

Richmond Vanadium Technology Ltd (ASX:RVT) managing director Jon Price predicts a massive global shortage of vanadium supply on the horizon. “Supply is dominated by China, South Africa, Russia and Brazil … and now China is nearly a net importer given its rate of adoption of Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries. We’re looking at demand doubling over the next 4-5 years and the question’s going to be where is that supply going to come from?” The Richmond Vanadium Project is one of the largest undeveloped oxide vanadium resources in the world with a resource of 1.8 billion tonnes at 0.36% for 6.7 million tonnes of V2O5 and an ore reserve of 459 million tonnes at 0.49% for 2.25 million tonnes.
