FTSE 100 was little changed on the open as unemployment levels in the UK ticked higher in the first quarter of the year, according to figures from the ONS.
Vodafone announced another raft of job cuts. This time, it is planning on cutting 11,000 jobs although it did not specify which regions would be impacted.
boohoo nosedived into a pre-tax loss for the year to 28 February. The online fashion retailer reported a loss of £90.7mln while sales also slipped 11%.
Sausage roll specialists Greggs reported sales growth in the year to date but warned cost inflation is likely to stick around. Despite this, the board remains confident of making further progress.
Among the small caps, Hercules Site Services said it grew revenues by roughly 85% in the first half of the year to £37mln. “Substantial demand” from its UK infrastructure construction industry market underpinned performance in the six months to 31 March.
