The FTSE 100 shrugged off concerns about US midsized banks this morning, opening higher as we head towards the coronation weekend here in the UK.
Turning to equities now, shares in British Airway’s owner IAG are today’s biggest gainers in percentage terms, supported by a rise in its full-year guidance on healthy forward bookings and its first first-quarter profit growth since 2019.
It’s a different story over at IHG though, where chief executive Keith Barr has announced he’ll be stepping down at the end of June, having just delivered a strong set of first quarter results that were boosted by easing Chinese travel restrictions.
In the housing market, Rightmove are saying that mortgage rates have begun to show some signs of settling, though challenges remain for first-timers who are still paying £200 more compared to last year.
And in small caps, Clontarf Energy has announced it can now advance a lithium joint venture with NEXT-ChemX Corporation.
