A very good morning to you from London where the FTSE 100 is up at four-week highs, with mining giants Glencore and Rio Tinto the biggest gainers – likely supported by gold rising back above $2000/oz this morning. Glencore shares are up 3% today despite being its advances for Canadian coal producer Teck Resources being firmly rebuffed over the weekend.
Elsewhere in big caps BP has joined forces with Harbour Energy to develop the Viking carbon capture transportation and storage project in the Humber. Harbour will continue to operate the project and retains a 60% share.
Among some smaller caps, and Galantas Gold has announced an extension to its drilling program at the Omagh gold project in Northern Ireland with an initial 600m of diamond drilling planned. And Yorkshire-based Black Sheep Brewery says it is mulling a potential sale to raise some funds.
