A very good morning to you from our London studio, where there are plenty of macroeconomic stories to talk about.
The FTSE 100 dipped at this morning’s open but has been climbing ever since, while high street lender Halifax is saying UK house prices actually rose by 1.1% between January and February despite expectations of a fall.
Retail sales were also up on the month in the February according to KPMG, rising 5.2% - but they were still down by 6.7% on the year.
Baker Greggs reported a 23% rise in full year sales to £1.2bn, helping it on its way to 1.9% increase in pre-tax profits to £148.3mln. The results statement also mentioned that the chain may ultimately treble its number of shops to around 3,000.
And manufacturer’s trade body Make UK has this morning called for an urgent reset of political and trading relationships with the EU, saying that almost half of UK manufacturers believe EU suppliers have grown more cautious about doing business in Britain.
That’s all for this morning, today’s report was written by Josh Lamb and presented by me, Thomas Warner.
