Today’s big gainers are BT, coca-cola’s bottling arm and Vodafone, which Liberty Global has just bought nearly 5% of. The CEO of the US telecoms firm says that the market has undervalued the opportunities Vodafone has in the world of digital infrastructure.
Elsewhere the ONS is saying this morning that 843,000 working days were lost to strike action here in the UK in December, the highest monthly figure for more than a decade.
Travel group Tui is reporting that its losses narrowed during the fourth quarter of last year, helped by resurgent demand for travel. Revenue was up by 58% on the year, while losses reduced by 32.6%.
And over in the US, Flutter Entertainment appears to be pressing ahead with a New York listing despite the looming threat of a ban on gambling advertising.
