Have you ever been told you numb your sensations?  As in, you numb your feelings?

What Coach Josh has been alerted to is that he has a habit of eating when he feels stressed… eating when he feels undesired emotions.

This happens at a subconscious level.  So he wanted to do something about it.

This episode documents the midway point of his experiment of a 3-day fast.  No food – only water – for a full 72 hours!

Mix in the experience of some psychedelics (magic mushrooms), and we’re experimenting with what it REALLY feels like to be in connection with your true emotions – the FEELINGS that are sensed in your body.

He is an Operating Room Nurse at Penn and was a travel nurse for a few years on the west coast.

He is a mainstay and a pillar in the ball hockey world!

Karen Levin is a passionate education professional and outdoor enthusiast currently living a nomadic life centered around national parks.  Karen has a strength as an educator and a robust understanding of how people learn, both in and out of the classroom.  She believes in building strong relationships and listening to those closest to the issues.

Karen has spent over a decade in education, first as a high school math teacher, next as Director of Zeroing in on Math at a Boston non-profit, and then she founded Summit Strategy Consulting: Where Math and Meetings Hit Their Peak.  Karen also co-founded the United Women’s Ball Hockey Foundation (UWBHF) in 2015 with three other passionate ball hockey leaders. Affectionately known as “Coach Karen” in the ball hockey community, Karen and her green crocs lead skills clinics for youth and adults, focusing on using small games to teach big concepts.  Karen is the Chief Operating Officer for the UWBHF. 

Karen has been a member of Team USA Women’s Ball Hockey since 2015, competing in 8 international tournaments, with her 9th coming up June 2024 in Switzerland. Karen has 5 silver medals and 1 gold medal during her time competing at an international level. 

Karen began her hockey career at age 5 in ice hockey, progressing to play four years of DIII college ice hockey and golf at Middlebury College.  She won two national ice hockey championships at Middlebury.  After arriving in Boston, Karen discovered a local adult ball hockey league, the BSSC, and began her career as a ball hockey athlete.  She loves to combine her two passions, hockey and travel to see the world and expand her horizons.

Taylor describes herself as a subject matter explorer and entrepreneur.

She has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Castleton University and a master’s in measurement and evaluation from American University. After working at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics laboratory for five years working in design thinking as well as assessing the performance of facial recognition algorithms, she started her first business in logistics and has since opened her second called WildFire Coffee Company.

She has played ice hockey her entire life including the D3 level in college as well as coached at various levels. She has also represented the USA Women’s ball hockey team in 2017, 2019, and for the upcoming 2024 year.
