Hola Hola! We are back with Season 2: Episode 10 of Conversaciones con Colegas. In this episode we bring you a charla with Aida Flores, a bilingual and bicultural educator and community leader in Chicago. The daughter of working class immigrants, and a mother at the age of 14, Aida has had to contend with multiple externally imposed labels, but her story is a story of self-definition. Aida shares that as a teacher she felt secluded to her classroom and few colleagues who shared similar ideas. As a school leader, she tries to continue perspective taking to understand the different stakeholders to facilitate learning amongst the group to derive collective solutions.

Our hope and vision for our podcast is to elevate the voices and needs of educators and students, especially those voices which are often silenced or overlooked. Aida’s work aligns with LatinXChange in that she believes to arrive at the best solutions and approaches we need to engage with and amongst different lived experiences and areas of expertise. Her hope is to spark interest and curiosity amongst the group to continue our collective growth for solutions that can better serve our communities.
