  • Proving the Pythagorean Theorem

We learned about the Pythagorean Theorem, but where did it come from? How do we know it's definitely true? What if old Pythag just made it up off the top of his mystical skull? Lucky for us, in math we can proof that things are definitely true, and there are tons of ways to prove that the Pythagorean theorem is true. Here's one of the simpler ones for you to memorize, so you can bust it out at a party and be the coolest kid in the room!

  • Hydrohalogenation, Hydration, Dihalogenation

Three more of these babies. Isn't it neat how you can tell what the reaction is doing just from the name of it? Scientists are cool like that. Look out for rogue bromonium ions. Hydrohalogenation, hydration, and dihalogenation are here to stay.

  • Introduction to Phylum Chordata: Chordate Characteristics and the Chordate Cladogram

We have now completed our study of every single animal phylum but one: Chordata. This is the one that contains humans, as well as the most common animals we interact with every day, like our pets. There are about 81,600 species of chordates, with tremendous diversity among them, from teeny tiny little frogs all the way up to gigantic blue whales. What are the five characteristics that all chordates have in common? And since we have just one phylum left to go, we will switch to a cladogram for the chordates specifically, so what does that look like? There is so much to discuss!
